"And that is when I learned of her kingdom," Historia finished telling the story of how she gained her memories, the advisors she trusted most nodding in understanding.
I was grateful they believed her. Maybe the gifts proved the truth behind where we were from, now only to prove the truth behind the words describing our worth.
Shadis turned to me, his eyes boring into my own. I don't know why his stare shook me to the core. I could see what Sasha clearly meant by his scary aura. The stories weren't jokes. He was very intimidating.
"You believe it would be best to ally ourselves with her kingdom," he turned back to Historia, his voice matching with his face.
She looked down, "Yes. Her grandparents were so trusting, so kind, they opened there world to us. They offered so much, answered so many questions, and yet mine was blinded by the first king's ideal. The only reason why her kingdom was forced into the war was because our kingdom was lead by a king with a demented view of peace," she nearly growled, the anger she felt on display as she gripped her fist, "not only is she a wonderful and kind person but she understands war. Her people understand war and her military force is truly magnificent. Besides, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?"
That caught their attention.
The judge turned to me, "what kind of war?"
Which reminded me I hadn't exactly told the others except for Historia what we were battling.
"Do any of you know what the sea looks like?" I wondered if I'd need to show them instead of describing it.
The advisors exchanged looks causing me to chuckle, "that's alright I can show you."
I turned to Historia, her cup still full. "May I?"
She nodded with a soft smile.
I lifted my hand up and reached for the water pulling it from the cup. I could hear quiet gasps as I moved my hands in a circle causing the water to combine into an orb bigger than my head. I pushed my hands up causing the orb to float higher.
"The sea is blue because the water is clear; it just reflects the blue sky. However, a month ago the sea was not blue. There was so much bloodshed, the water itself turned colors. The sea takes up 70% of this world.... so you can imagine how many people have died. The creatures we were battling were 50 to 100 meters long, we called them Karathen or sea serpents," the orb changed as I spoke, showing the creature. It had a skull, with a long body and two legs. Its teeth were dripped in blue blood.
"We don't have walls to keep us safe. There were only sacrifices. 1 Karathen ate up to 5 people. So every day at noon, anyone who stood up to the power, children without parents, anyone who didn't fit with the Queen's or King's plans were sacrificed to the Karathen. There were estimated to be at least 50 of them but it was hard to tell due to the fact our military was taught to fear them and never stayed around one long enough to identify it. There was no way to kill them. Every time a Karathen died each person they ate was covered in its intestine and would thus turn into a Karathen."
Pixis nodded slowly, "So you had your own Titan infestation. How'd you win?"
I chuckled, "I was raised in the castle with my older sister. When she died, I was sent away into hiding. I was 7 at the time. Our age to enroll was 10 at the time. If you didn't join the military you were put into camps. So I joined and that's where I met Noah. He's my scientific advisor, my scout if you will," I gestured, causing them to nod and me to continue, "Our commander was old, the teachers were carefree. No one took it seriously. The military training was a joke, all for show.
When we finally graduated, I was 13. Top of my class, which wasn't saying much," I shook my head almost ashamed, "but my squad leader was the man who taught me how to fight. The squad consisted of Noah, Oliver, Lake, and William his son. When Noah discovered a way to kill the Karathen, we would take trips outside of the city and fight them ourselves. William discovered who I was and revealed there was a way to overthrow my parents. So after gaining the support of as many people as we could we did.
The Royal blood in me gave me a great power that allowed me to eventually destroy the creatures who'd been destroying the ocean for almost 200 years."
They seemed fascinated by my story. As hard as it was to relive, those moments I was glad to have told them. Maybe this would help me to gain there trust.
I waved my hand away causing the water to float back into Historia's cup.
"I see," Zackly nodded slowly, "I think it would be greatly beneficial to ally ourselves with your kingdom. You've proven your worth as not only a Queen but a warrior. Those in power rarely understand what it is like to be in the midst of battle, losing people, fighting until your last breath, and making sacrifices."
Shadis sighed, "Your intelligence continues to surprise me each time we meet your highness as does your understanding for others. I can see why you'd want to ally yourself with Queen Delphine, your stories are similar and you're both young women who could use the company."
Pixis smiled, "I can see how William respects you and I've seen your aids, spoken with them and it is obvious they respect you as well. You already had my trust when you walked in," he gestured to himself, "even more so now that I've heard your story."
Historia looked to me, her eyes holding a happiness I had yet to see.
Historia clapped, "Well, with that in mind I think it is best we begin planning our Kingdom's contract in a week's time. I believe it is best to have the input of those I trust so I ask that you also join us for that meeting. I believe the mission to retake Wall Maria will take place in a month, so until then I will also invite Commander Erwin to these meetings," she rose causing me to follow her movement, "thank you gentlemen for meeting me. If you'll excuse us ladies we'll be going," and bowed.
I turned to them one last time for today, "Judge Zackly, Instructor Shadis, and Commander Pixis, I look forward to meeting you all again. Thank you for your time."
I was quickly followed by William.
"That wasn't so bad," William quickly caught up to me causing me to laugh, "Yeah, I can't lie and say my nerves have calmed down. I'm just glad that was enough to gain there trust."
Historia turned to us, "I could tell they were greatly impressed and happy even to have you as an ally. Insuring your support for this war really did it for them and the fact that you shared how you won your war," she paused, shaking her head, "brilliant."
I nodded, "Thank you, but really I should be thanking you for that setup. Hearing those words of guilt and determination made me even happier I came to this beautiful kingdom. These people are honored to have a Queen as thoughtful and kind as you."
Historia blushed, "Delphine you're too kind but-"
Stopping her from speaking William sighed heavily, "You're both great leaders, understanding and beautiful, can we please meet the others for lunch? I'm starving."
We laughed together as William rubbed his stomach, "at least we don't have to travel far," Historia chuckled taking us down a different hallway.
I looked down as my own stomach growled echoing across the stone, to which Historia shook her head, "my oh my, looks like we better hurry."
She practically took off causing us to pick up the pace. Moments like this reminded me that none of this was foolish and others could have moments like this. If only we tried to fight.
Then moments like this could be guaranteed for everyone and no one would be submerged in war.
𝐚/𝐧: Why is it that the final battle is so hard to write? I'm literally 44% done... we haven't even started on the beast titan throwing the rocks yet! Ugh, I'm going to get it done, it'll just take longer than any chapter I've written in this story.
Anyway thank you for reading, see ya!
