The scream tore through the woods and sent the goosebumps rising on my skin.

Drew tensed abruptly and stilled, listening carefully. I waited with baited breath. There was an end to the scream like there is an end to everything, including life. The woods were once again doused in silence.

I caught Drew's eye and we waited for a sign, a single clue as to what was happening. We didn't have to wait long to find out. Another shriek punctuated the air and the sky began to darken with the untimely approach of purple bruises - or storm clouds as we call them.

"Go sit in the car Amberry" Drew ordered quietly.

My face seemed to have expressed my disbelief at his demand for he gave me a pointed look that spoke volumes. Go!

I swallowed the knot of fear in my throat and for once decided to listen to him. I took a few steps towards the black BMW parked a few metres away, close to the road that wound around the outskirts of the forest. As I took another step I glanced at Drew who was moving further and further away and towards the noise, feeling anxious at the distance between us.

He was being cautious. He sniffed the air and began to circle around the clearing, his hands beginning to tremble as his wolf began to take control.

Suddenly, I heard rustling from the trees behind me. Glancing around quickly I tried to spot any sign of life. Gooseflesh sprang up on my skin and I shivered. I was still very new to this supernatural world that I had discovered and I knew my knowledge was poor.

What other terrors existed on this planet that I was yet to find out? Hadn't father mentioned witchcraft?

Another rustle grabbed my attention and Drew's who quickly appeared by my side. His hands were now sporting razor sharp claws that made my stomach turn.

A wolf stumbled out of a patch of forest undergrowth,  its fur a shocking shade of silver and its eyes a piercing cobalt blue. Something about those eyes was familiar but I wasn't given the time to ponder over it when I was suddenly pushed to the side. Landing on the mossy forest floor I winced as pain shot up my arm upon which I had fallen.

Hearing a series of growls I pulled myself up and found myself looking at two wolfs fighting a few metres away from me. The silver wolf was obviously losing as it let out a howl of pain as the other wolf - a mahogany wolf with a spot of gold on the its forehead - pounced upon it and pinned it to the floor.

The mahogany wolf, who I recognised as Drew in his wolf state, let out a ferocious growl as he bared his canines. Bowing, the silver wolf seemed to submit and Drew got off of it and moved a few paces backwards to give it space to get up.

Slowly the wolf stood up,  barely staying upright as it swayed. After a moment it crashed to the floor.  I took a step towards it, the thought that I knew it was consuming my mind. Earning a snap from Drew I paused, but my thoughts were setting me on edge.

Drew changed back into his human form and I glanced away from him as he covered himself with the pair of trousers he had managed to scavenge from the pile of tattered shreds that had once been his clothes.

"Don't come close" he said to me before approaching the silver wolf who was still lying on the ground, seemingly helpless.

Drew picked up the wolf with ease as if it weighed nothing. He beckoned me to follow and we began making our way to his car. I pulled open the back door and he lay the wolf in the backseat, surprisingly gentle.

I got into the front and he rushed to the drivers seat. I had hardly shut the car door before we were rocketing down the road along the forest border. Drew didn't say a word but I couldn't bare the silence much longer.
