Chapter 30

Amberia's pov

The door flew open and someone walked right into me making me fall backwards. However, before I could brace myself for the fall a set of familiar arms snaked around my waist and pulled me upright. Looking up I met green eyes that were filled with so many conflicting emotions that I didn't know what to make of them. Drew looked down at me for a fraction longer before tucking me into his side and making his way back into the room with me.

His golden hair was messy and a few haphazard strands fell into his eyes - he looked like he'd been running his hands through it numerous times. His appearance just made me feel more guilty about hiding in the toilets like a coward. I was just about to speak when I realised we weren't alone in the room.

I stared with wide eyes at Susan who at the present moment was sitting on a chair with her wrists tied up in what looked like silver handcuffs. Her face was drawn and she was pale. Though she had been nothing but unpleasant to me since the day I set foot in school I couldn't help feel the tiniest morsel of pity as I saw her in this state. I would have helped had I not known that werewolves healed quite quickly.

My eyes flew back to Drew who was watching me with a little frown. Something was most definitely wrong.

"What's happening here?" I asked as my eyes flickered between my mate and the girl who wanted him.

He sighed tugging his hand through his hair and letting it flop back onto his forehead.

"Susan just told me something that is quite important" he started.

What had she said? Was it just about the drama she'd created today?

The question that I had been asking myself since I saw the video echoed through my mind. How had they even managed to get their hands on that? I remember clearly that day like it was only yesterday. We were in the chemistry lab and Victor had left me with Drew who proceeded to kiss me. I didn't remember seeing anyone else in the room.

Drew was talking again and I shook my head trying to shake away the tumult of thoughts and questions pounding through my mind.

"Someone made her do this Amberry. She told me that they asked her to split us apart so that they could get to you"

I was confused now. I thought Susan had put the video on the internet because she wanted some sort of revenge for being with Drew. Who else hated me more than she did in this school?

"Who is it?" I asked, cautious.

He looked into my eyes, waiting a moment before opening his mouth and saying

"Mrs Jennings"

I gasped. Did I hear right? Mrs Jennings – my chemistry teacher who had been nothing but kind to me since I started at Jackson High – how did she have anything to do with this mess?

I observed Drew's face, trying to glean anything that suggested he wasn't telling the truth. But I knew he wouldn't lie about something like this. However Susan, I was not so sure.

She didn't seem to have much strength left as she sat slumped against the chair, flinching every so often when the silver handcuffs dug into her skin.

"Why would Mrs Jennings want you to put that video out? Why would she have anything against me? She's a teacher!" I asked her.

Susan looked up at me for a moment – her sharp blue eyes dancing over my features, assessing me.
