With a life like mine, you can never predict anything. You never know what the next day will bring, or if you'll even make it to the next day. But when you do, you make the best out of the worst situations.
When I get home both my parents are sitting on the couch. Do they know? No I completely doubt they know. "Have a seat Julia." Yeah they know. "Mom, Dad I know you're mad." "About what Peach? The fact that you skipped school or the fact that you told off a teacher? This is not how we raised you." "No you raised me to run away from my problems, walk away from anything and everything. Maybe I don't want to run away Mom. Maybe I want to walk towards the problems." "It's that Sawyer, she's a bad influence." "The only bad influence in my life is you. You taught me everything I know. How do you expect me not to turn out like you?"
"Hey your mother has been a great influence on you." "How would you know when you're never even here? Your always either at a meeting or visiting a friend. You always have an excuse to not be with your family." "I work to pay the bills unlike your mother." "Excuse me who's side are you on?" "Sorry." "Peach I think it's time you go to your room. With no dinner of course." "Gladly. Your vegan meatloaf has more meat in it than five hamburgers."
I stomp up to my room and slam the door. I look at my phone to see a missed phone call from Seb. I call him back. "Can I help you?" "You can not hang out with him anymore!" "Wow okay calm down, I can't hang out with who? "Blake McLain. Out of all the guys at our school you choose him." "It wasn't exactly a choice." "Sawyer told me what he said, aren't you mad?" "Of course I'm mad Sebastian. My entire life my best friend convinced me to do treatment after treatment. You don't think I know what he's doing? Chemotherapy can make people sick and tired. At least it did to me. I could barely get up in the morning and I couldn't even eat one full meal. It sucked the life out of me, literally."
"I don't know why I'm telling you all this. If anything I should be telling Sawyer this. But I feel as if I can't talk to her cause." "She's not listening. Yeah she wasn't always like this, but everything changed after. And I just completely forgot what I was gonna say." That's a lie I just know it. But I don't care anymore, I'm done with people for the day. "You know what's crazy. Is that for once I thought someone I was interested in was interested in me back." "Wait what! You like him?" "Wait did I say that out loud?" "Listen out of all the guys at our school, not him. Anyone but him." "Why do you care so much?" "Cause he has humped and dumped every girl at our school. That includes Gigi and her two idiots. That's why she is the way she is. That's why she's so cold hearted. Cause of him."
I hear something hit my window. I look outside to see Blake. "Seb I gotta go, there's a pig in my front lawn." "Why is there a pig in a suburb of California? Oh you meant Blake." "Yeah." I hung up the phone and opened my window. "Can I help you?" "Why can't I come in?" "I've been sent to my room for sneaking out of school." "Well I brought Chick-fil-A as a peace offering." "Cool you better enjoy it cause there's no way up." "I have my ways." He gets in his car and drives off.
About fifteen minutes later I see Blake crawling through my window. "What the hell kinda psychopath shit is this?" "Hey." "How did you get up here?" "I climbed." "Climbed what? Air?" "No I brought a ladder." "Oh my god." "I needed to talk to you, and none of your friends would give me your number." "Yeah cause they're loyal." "Well that's always a good sign." "What do you want Blake?" "I should not have said those things. But I was scared that if I didn't say it then I would say it at the wrong time." "Here's an idea don't say it at all."
"I'm not smart, I know that. If you would just trust me." "No stop right there. My entire life people, children, adults even teachers singled me out. Because I looked different because I was different. I had one friend that always stood up for me, and in the end that friend betrayed me." "If you would just trust me you would know that I would never do that." He started leaning closer to me. We were so close to kissing, that was until. "Ouch." "Oh my god! Seb what the hell are you doing here?" "I wanted to make sure you were okay after our little conversation."
"Wow, wait conversation?" "Yeah dude, why you jealous?" "Of you? Yeah you wish." "Here Jules I brought you this." He holds out a Chick-fil-A bag. "Thanks for the Chick-fil-A guys but you need to leave." They both just stood there staring at me. "Now!" "Alright." Sebastian looked at Blake. "Ladies first." "Har har very funny." He goes down the ladder and Seb looks at me. "Are you freaking kidding me? You just got done telling me you were pissed at him. And you were just gonna kiss him?" "No. Yes. I don't know okay. Just leave Seb." He turned around to climb down. "He's not good enough for you." "Then who is Seb?" He climbed down the ladder and in seconds he was gone. "Who is?"
A few minutes later I open the door. "Hey Peach." "How much did you hear?" "Enough to know that you got two boys chasing after you." "Mom!" "Peach." She grabbed my hand. "Don't make the mistake of choosing the wrong one. Boys will be boys, and only one of them is gonna to be the right one." She walked out back down the stairs. I looked at myself in the mirror. "You couldn't just be invisible, could you Julia?" Sometimes I wish I was invisible. Not being I have cancer, just because high school sucks in general.
