"Wait what now?" "Call someone." "No I can drive you." "Absolutely not." "Mom I have my permit. Just let me do this please." "Fine. I'll make you a deal. You get me there safely. If we make it back without a scratch I'll take you to get your licenses." "Deal." I grab the hospital bag and help her get out to the car. "Okay to be honest with you Mom, I've never really driven with anybody but Dad." "Your father sucks at driving. He probably taught you everything you shouldn't do." "Okay, here we go." I start the car and begin to drive. Everything was fine, until I realized. "I have to drive in Los Angeles?" "It's where my doctor told me to go." "Are you crazy? I can barely drive in an empty parking lot without hitting anything." "Honey, you have your permit. You can do this, I believe in you." "Glad someone does." As I was driving in the highway, with my mother in the front seat about to pop out a child, my phone starts to ring. I look down to see who it is. "Ugh." I ignore his call. "What's going on with you and Seb?" "Nothing." "Somethings going on." "No literally nothings going on. Seb and I are through. We were never together but." "Did he tell you to leave him alone?" "No Mom. It was my decision." "Honey." "You don't need to worry about it."
We eventually made it to the hospital alive. They took my mom back, but when I tried to follow her someone stopped me. "You need to stay out here young lady." "That's my mother." "I'm sorry but you'll have to wait for the father." "The father isn't coming. He's a dead beat dad. So you can wait all you want but he will never come. So either let me past, or I will go all cancer rage on your sorry little ass." He didn't know what that meant. Which made it even funnier. "Fine you may go." I run into my moms room. "Mom!" "Honey you just saw me." "I know but they took you away. They weren't gonna let me in. They were waiting for Dad." "Right like he would come." I never thought I would be calling my father a dead beat. I always thought of my father to be a respectful man. Someone who cared about his family. But turns out, he was just someone who only cared about himself. Maybe Seb will be lucky and grow up to be just like him. A successful piece of shit.
My mother wasn't it labor for long. About eight hours later, little Troy was out and crying. "Mom are you sure you're okay with naming him Troy?" "Of course I am." "I'm gonna go grab some water." When I walked out to the hall the doctor came up to me. "Hi Doctor. Is everything okay?" "Yes. But we have to keep your mom for a few nights to run some tests." "Oh that's okay." Shit shit shit. What the hell am I gonna do. I can't go home without my mom. I need someone who has their licenses. But I can't worry about that right now. My mother just had a child. I have a brother. "Um excuse me nurse. While my mom is getting more tests done, can I hold Troy?" "Um sure Hun. If you need anything just press the call button." She sets Troy in my arms. "Hi, Troy. You don't know who I am, but I'm here. I'm your sister and I love you. I don't know if you'll even be old enough to remember me when I'm gone. I don't know if I'll be gone by the time you even learn to talk. Welcome to the shitty world that is earth. I bet you liked it better where you were. You got free food and free housing. Your gonna change a lot of people's lives someday Troy, cause I know you changed mine." "And you changed my Julia."
"Seb?" "Your mom called me. Told me you were gonna need a ride. But she doesn't want you staying home by yourself." "Let me guess, so I'm staying with you?" "Yeah. And we don't have a spare room so your sleeping in the same bed as me." "And your parents are okay with this?" "They're out of town." "So I'm going from one empty house, to another?" "Not empty. I'm there." I look down at Troy. "Is that him?" "No I'm holding some random family's baby." "He's really cute. Kinda like you." Seb leans in to kiss me. "Nurse!" I stand up quickly. "I think he's hungry. And could you tell my mom I'm heading home." "Of course Hun. Drive safe." We walk out to Sebastians car. I jump in. I hadn't realized how tired I was till I fell asleep in his car. "Julia we're here. Julia? Oh." I felt Sebs hand slip under me. He picked me up and took me to his room. I heard him take his shirt off and climb into bed. I felt him kiss my forehead and get under the comforter. I was on the outside of the bed and my back was turned to him. I felt his hand slide around my waist. I didn't stop it. Why would I? So much had happened today, this was just another great thing today had brought.
When I woke up, Sebs hand was still on my waist. I sat up. "Oh my god. It's ten o'clock, I'm late for school." "Julia!" "What?!" "I already called both of us in. You need more sleep." "I agree with that." I climbed back into bed. "Aren't you gonna get up?" "Hell no. I finally get to sleep in. I'm gonna do it." Is it weird for me to say I slept better in Sebs bed then I do my own? Maybe he has a better mattress. What am I saying, there's a reason I slept better, and his name is Sebastian James. But as I was sleeping, something happened. I started having a nightmare. When the nightmare ended I shot up. I was sweating, and once I had got a grip of myself, I started to remember the nightmare. I started crying. Not not crying, bawling. I guess Seb heard me. "Julia?" He said barely even awake. Instead of saying words I just jumped on him and hugged him. Practically crying into his arms. "It was just a dream." He rubbed my head. "Everything's gonna be okay."
