"Are you sure we can't just take my car?" I whine shaking Madison's arm like a child.

"I'm positive. I will not test your dad after he told you not to do something." She says waving her finger at me.

"But why do we have to ride with Landon and Justin?" She looks at me through her mirror before she puts her mascara on.

"Don't be so dramatic Dri—"

"Damn now you're calling me Dri too?" I dramatically fall back on her bed. "I'm gonna go crazy before the night ends."

"I promise you they aren't that bad."

"Oh, so you hang with Landon a lot?" I ask bitterly. She eyes me from the mirror again before she turns putting her hand on her lip.

"And if I do? What would be wrong with that? You know I hang with other people that doesn't lessen our friendship."

"Whatever, I didn't mean it like that." I mumble before turning on my stomach making sure I turn away from her while I pout.

"Stop being such a baby I promise it'll be fun."

"Yeah well, it sounds like a double date to me." I roll my eyes. "Looks like I'll be getting my camera after all."

"No, it's not a double date," she starts. "You did not set anything up with Landon like you were supposed to, and you have not been texting him enough. You guys are barely friends, not that you're even trying. Guy looks like a panting dog trying to talk to you it's like you can't stand the guy at all." I turn back over seeing her throw her hands up complaining about me.

"He's tolerable." I shrug picking at my nails.

"Yeah, to me not you."

"I'm not saying I don't like Landon as a friend, I just don't want to force something and that's not meant to happen." I admit. "I see the way people look at us like they aren't watching. Just a couple of weeks ago I was known as crazy ass Alex who keyed Don's car—which was not true in the slightest." I point my finger. "I'm saying all this to say, being around him may make things more difficult for me when it doesn't have to be. It seems like the more I'm around him the more people watch me.

"I think it's all in your head." She says fluffing her natural curls and popping her lips from her lip gloss. "I should've had you do my makeup like yours it looks great. When'd the heck you learn how to do your makeup like this by the way?" She changes the subject as if I wouldn't notice.

"Thanks, I've been practicing all summer." I side eye her. "And since I'm being honest, I'm scared to go out looking like this. Do you think they'll think I'm trying too hard to fit in? My mom said it looks great on me but now I'm not so sure because she's my mom and—" I keep rambling on about my doubts and it felt like word vomit because once I started, I couldn't stop.
