After school, once I get to the yearbook room, it was a handful of seniors there that I glance at before I'm interrupted. "I thought you were going to meet me?" Landon pops up behind me. I play off him startling me and look at him, crossing my arms.
"How did you find me Nancy Drew?"
"I looked all over school for you." He chuckles. "I got lucky after ten minutes. Are you hiding from me?"
"No, just considering joining the yearbook club." I stare into the class taking in everyone in the room. There is an older teacher there, Mrs. Gibson is her name from what I remember. She is dozing off as everyone else is occupied. I quickly scan the room and my eyes land on Chresanto. I knew he wasn't telling the truth. He is talking to someone else at his table, Chrestina. Chresanto... Chrestina?
"Hey Landon, are Chresanto and Chrestina related?" I frown at him in deep thought. He eyes me, clearly confused by my question.
"They're... twins Dria." I step back in amazement, not sure what to think of it all. Oh crap, how couldn't I see it before? I mentally facepalm myself. I forgot Madison had mentioned that to me earlier this year and now I feel like an idiot for not putting that together sooner.
"But... they don't look alike at all."
"But they do look related." He snickers. I look in the room as the two of them are in a heated conversation that they keep in hushed tones. I walk in the room ignoring Landon calling my name.
"I see why you asked me to join, there's hardly anyone on the committee." I look at him not bothering to address Chrestina. She side eyes him, audibly scoffing at what I said.
"Are you going to join?" I shrug and look at Chrestina from the corner of my eye.
"I don't think I'm wanted here by everyone anyway, plus I have work."
"Just come once a week. He puts his hands together and I shake my head.
"This is a big commitment besides work I will have to decide later." Chrestina doesn't look at me at all, she's red in the face and visibly upset.
I shake my head at her, she's different when she's not with her friends. No courage to try and get a reaction out of me like usual. It seems like there's different sides to Chrestina, I only liked one side of her and that was the girl I met this summer who was kind to me. I quickly think back to what she said to me this summer about how we may have been friends in an alternate universe, I wonder if she'd mentioned that because of the front she's clearly putting on to fit in with her friends. She seems so angry towards me lately I don't know what I'd ever done to her. Chresanto looks me in the eyes, but he doesn't say anything.
"Ready baby?" Landon pops up behind me. "What's da deal Chres? Chressy." He nods at them as he puts his arm around me. I can tell he's letting our newfound relationship known because he's never just called me baby before. Nevertheless, I still feel chills being called baby.
