"So, your dad has been home since Sunday, right? How are you enjoying that?" Madison and I didn't stay at odds for long, I told her what was going on as soon as I seen her at school that Monday.
"Not so much to be honest. There's tension between all of us and everyone is giving the silent treatment."
"Damn, do you need to vent about it." She looks at me with hopeful eyes.
"No..." I sigh. "It's not that big a deal."
"Okay well thanks for taking me to get something to eat before I had to get ready, I was starving. You sure you don't want to wait in the school with me until your shift at 6? You could come to the football game; Friday night football games are the best."
"Hmm, tempting. But remember I need to go look for the mirror to my car so that I can stop driving with my mom every morning and after school. I want to show up early for work anyway." Football games weren't my scene, but I would have gone if I didn't have things to do tonight. I feel guilty about her feeling as though I don't support her.
"You have an excuse this time, but very soon you won't. homecoming is coming up, so you better be at that game, no excuses." She winks at me and runs back towards the school.
I get an incoming call from my mom and I quickly answer. "Hey, I'm waiting outside."
"That's why I was calling, I'm going to be 30 minutes late, you're fine with waiting right?" I jump feeling a tap on my shoulder.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't think I would scare you Dria." I roll my eyes when I see Landon holding his hands up.
"Okay that's fine mom just call me when you get here." I hang up the phone groaning in annoyance. "It's Alex."
"Right... sorry Alex."
"Do you need something Landon?"
"You can call me Don, it's usually a privilege but I figure we'll be communicating for a while so why not?" Had he found out about the deal somehow and he was trying to hint to me about it? Of course not, that'd be nearly impossible for him to find out since only Madison and I knew about the deal... right?
"Landon why would you assume that we'll be 'communicating' for a while?" I say sourly.
"Well did you think I'd be able to pay for the part in full?"
"Well, you offered like you would just fix it and expect me to pay for it."
"While the idea is tempting, I realized that that's wrong and I can't let you do that. It's my fault your mirror is broken so let me fix it and pay for it."
"You don't even know how much it's going to be."
"Well, let me ride with you so that I can know." My face turns up at his offer.
