With it being the last week of school, everyone is jittery and excited for Christmas break, including my teachers I'm sure they'll love having a break from us as well. I'd hardly seen Landon during the day but he warned me before school that he'd be scarce. I figure because he'd want to talk to all of his friends since we'd be out of school for two weeks. We didn't dare speak about the odd encounter with his parents, but we have been making sure we communicate for our parents so that they don't speak about it with mine. We had a family dinner in the works at my house for over the break and I was ready to get it over with.

When I walk down the hall I walk past Zoey, Chrestina, and Camilla. Zoey doesn't dare glance my way as she keeps her head held high and Camilla glares at me. I glance over at Chrestina and she simply gives me a small nod and I return the gesture. I go to my locker getting the last of my books for the last class and switch what I don't need.

"Hey Dri." He hugs me and kisses my forehead. "Well, I've thought more about what I may like for Christmas since I know you haven't found anything yet, and I think I wouldn't mind going out to somewhere you may like. I don't mind trying new things that you like as a present, that's a present within itself because I'm getting to know you more." He admits as non chalant as he can. But the comment means a lot to me because he's willing to put what I'm interested in as his interest.

"While that is thoughtful... you don't have to think that way. I don't mind going somewhere you like or giving you something you may love." I admit. "Stop overthinking it and just be, remember? Trust that I will find something you like." I smile as him as he stands across the room. He's being thoughtful and I appreciate it because my first impression of him was a selfish guy who wouldn't think twice about getting to know me on a deeper level.

"Did our roles just switch?" He pauses before he snickers at the thought.

"I think you're right." I join in on his laughter. "If I don't get you a good Christmas present then I will get you a good birthday gift, okay? January 20th, right?" He nods and gives me a wink.

"I'm excited for the holiday." He admits. "Because I get to spend it with you. Because you're not only interested in what I get you but what's behind the holiday and that's being together and enjoying the atmosphere." I sigh in admiration at his honesty.

"I really like you a lot too." I finally blurt. It wasn't the ideal time for me to admit something like this but in the moment, I felt it when I looked in his eyes and I felt how his smile made me melt inside. I don't care what the weather may be, all I need you to do is be here with me. Those lyrics were embedded in my head now and my heart thumped in my chest as I waited for him to say something. But he doesn't say a word, he cups my cheek in his hand and leans down kissing me on the lips. I feel him pull me forward by the small of my back deepening the kiss and that warm feeling returns. He pulls away putting his forehead to mine letting out a short breath. Our first open kiss and I didn't care about anyone who was around to see, all I could think about was him, Landon.

"I'll see you later?" I keep my eyes closed as I nod my head. I feel him walk away but I don't open my eyes until I'm sure he's gone. When I do there's hardly anyone in the hall, so I quickly walk to my next class.

The yearbook committee is fun, I only get to come one out of the three days that they meet because of work but it excites me every time I get the chance to go. I've submitted all the pictures I took of the cheer team for consideration. I look at the pictures that Madison is front and center in and feel sorrow wash over me. I haven't spoken to her, but since we've stopped talking, she came out with Justin as a couple.

"You miss her?" Chrestina. I quickly glance over at her and shrug.

"What's it matter to you?" I mumble.

"I guess it doesn't, but everyone knows you two fell out. It's obvious and you know there are rumors going around like crazy on why." I try not to roll my eyes at the thought.

"What are you trying to find something out so you can tell everyone?" I frown. She turns her head and Chresanto is standing there looking at her intently. She sighs turning to me shaking her head.

"I'm going to go mind my business." He shrugs. When he leaves the room, I look at her once again and she avoids eye contact.

"I—am just wondering—if you're doing, okay?" She stammers like it's painful to ask me the question. I keep a frown on my face as I think about her question.

"Look you don't have to play nice with me just because your brother is probably forcing you to for ulterior motives. I'm in this club because I enjoy it and I'd come to terms with the fact that we'll only be cordial since we both love taking pictures and figuring out the layout for the yearbook..." I pause as she looks nervous twirling her hair around her finger. "It may also boost my ego that you need my help with different techniques." I admit and she stifles a laugh. A laugh...I don't think I ever heard her utter a laugh because she thought I genuinely said something funny.

"Look Alex, I... I'm not asking because I'm being forced to be nice to you. Has Chres pushed me to try? Yes, but that's because he knows the real me and I haven't been acting like it since I've started senior year and I apologize for that..." She pauses and she's visibly holding her breath in.

"Thank you for apologizing to me, it means a lot because I remember that small moment, I'd met you during the summer and you were so much different. I was so confused when you came at me sideways when you were with Zoey, and I was almost... pissed. Anyway, I accept, and I hope we can move on and make a great class yearbook." She lets her breath out and nods at me.

"Thanks... and look I do appreciate your tips and help with the pictures and layouts, and I hope that over the break we can work on it more, would that be okay?" I pause thinking about it, unsure of her motives.

"Meet at your house? Will Chresanto be there?" I playfully turn my nose up and she laughs at shaking her head.

"Okay, maybe I'm reaching a bit far... take my Snapchat and then we can decide on something." Snapchat. That's a step. I nod my head and let her scan my code having her add me. "How about we meet at a Panera or a Starbucks?"

"Cool." I poke my lip out shrugging.

"Cool."
