Sunday morning, I was up bright and early to go shopping since my mom insisted that I go to homecoming.  She is so excited about it, she even gave me extra money for my dress and spirit week attire. That means I must go shopping for that, which wasn't the plan.

I begged her to let me go with friends instead of her. I invited Jasmine because she said she'd be happy to help, Madison is tagging along just for the fun of it, she got her dress weeks ago. The drive was long because I offered to pick up Madison along with Jasmine on the way and she lived on the opposite side of town from the mall.

"Alright girls we have a lot to do today. We need to find your dress and clothes for your spirit week."

"Yippie." I couldn't help but let a sarcasm remark slip.

"Cheer up Alex, today's gonna be fun!" Madison cheers.

The first three stores were a bust for me, Madison at least found a few more dresses she was interested in even though she already found hers. I have yet to find a dress that's my style. I'm not for sure what my style is exactly.

"I think you should do a short dress for homecoming, not long." Jasmine suggests.

"I like that idea." Madison hums.

"Guys, I don't think I like the idea of me wearing a dress..."  The two of them stop what they're doing and look at me.

"Well what else are you going to wear to homecoming? Jeans?" Jasmine blurts.

"Do you want to wear a skirt instead Alex?"

"I think I want to wear leather leggings instead." The two of them gasp at my revelation.

"No way, you have to wear a dress it's homecoming." Madison whines.

"But I have yet to find a dress that I like."

"Okay Madison let's not panic. Obviously, your best friend is going through a crisis right now or something because I don't know why she thinks she's going to wear leather leggings to homecoming like it's the icebreaker dance." Jasmine cuts her eyes at me.

"The two of you are absurd."

"No, you're the absurd one Alex." Madison snaps. "There are unspoken rules for homecoming: you dress up and don't be too dressy because it isn't prom."

"Well great, then leggings are perfect." They both huff at me.

"Okay, how about we just look at another place since you aren't happy with anything here." Jasmine speaks calmly. "I know a boutique near my house that sells great homecoming-like outfits." Madison mouth drops immediately.

"Well, what if we drive all the way over there and she doesn't like anything?" Madison complains.

"She better, the clothes there are cute."
