"Alex, today is going to be a better day." One could only hope.
I wake up a few hours early today and I'm trying my best to be optimistic, but inside I'm trying not to crumble from senior year pressure. Working and going to school makes my days seem much longer, but I'm always glad when Friday comes, last day in the school week. My father still isn't home from his trip and I'm now seeing less of my mother these days, I'm sure it was due to his absence she's now burying herself in her work with late nights.
When I finish getting ready, I still have plenty of time until school starts. Driving to school I'm able to drive comfortably not getting caught in morning traffic. I even stop to get a blueberry muffin.
When I finally get out of my car to walk to the school, I have tunnel vision for my locker. I was ready to get this day over with so that I could work and then go home to do whatever homework I would get today.
"Well hello to you too Alex." Madison. I was trying to have a good morning; I didn't want to bring her mood down, so I force a smile. I see her mouth moving, but my mind is drifting, and I could not focus on what she was saying.
"I'm sorry what?" Her smile instantly falls from her face as she stares at me.
"Wow Alex have you heard anything that I have told you?" Do I lie to her? Yes. Then I don't have to hear her complain about me not listening to her.
"Of course, I was listening girl you always think I don't listen to you." She rolls her eyes at me, pushing me forward.
"Then go now." We were walking back to the school parking lot and I realize that I should not have lied because I have no idea what she wants me to do.
"Hurry up Alex, while he's alone. At least say hi so he can remember who you are and that he's supposed to be fixing your mirror." My heart nearly drops to my ass when I see him—Landon. Damn, now I see why it's considered a sin to lie, it can get you into a situation you don't need to be in.
"Madison, look here's the truth girl I—"
"See you later, I'm going to class." She pushes me forward one last time and I stumble right into his car door opening. The impact makes me fall back and I groan in pain rubbing my chest.
"What the hell?" He looks over his door at me on the ground. "What did you do?" Did he seriously just ask that? I held my hand out so that he could help me up, but he went around to close his car door and look at it closer, bumping me with his leg in the process.
"Hey, are you okay? Oh yeah thanks for asking your damn door just knocked me on my butt, I don't think you broke anything, I could be wrong." I get up from the ground and he frowns at me shaking his head.
"I'm sure that you're okay. This car is very important to me, I'd hate if anything happened to it." Yeah, you're so lucky.
"Yeah..." Don't be an awkward bitch again Alex. "I guess I'm just clumsy. You know most of the time when I make my bed, I have to do it slowly or I might punch myself in the face trying." I laugh so he can know it was a joke, but he just stares at me like I'm weird. How humiliating.
