Landon has been ignoring me and I'm feeling annoyed at how he is handling the situation. Surprisingly enough, Justin sent me a message on Instagram saying that he needed to meet up to talk and I reluctantly agree. Maybe he has talked to Landon and can tell me how he's feeling.
I meet him in the parking lot of the school, and I see him standing outside in front. I pull up in front of him and unlock my car doors. He gets inside shivering from the cold air. With my car in park, I lean back in my seat and look over at him. "I would have met you at home had I known you weren't going to drive. How did you get here?" He shrugs at my question before he answers.
"I caught tha bus, my folks out doing they thing today. I don' have a ca like you." He jabs. I scoff, rolling my eyes at his unnecessary comment I try not to get annoyed.
"My point is, I don't mind coming to your house because I'm driving. Why are you being so hostile?" I frown. He doesn't say anything as he looks out the window.
"Why did you say we need to talk if you're not going to say anything Justin?"
"Call me Jay." He mumbles.
"Hm, didn't know we were close enough for me to call you that." I roll my eyes.
"Alr fine, we can talk on tha way taking me home." He huffs.
"Are you sure, wouldn't want to offend you by driving in my car." I say sarcastically.
"Okay my bad I took my anger out on ya', it's cold today and my folks been trippin about getting me a ca. They think it should be earned on ma own like they had ta do. Like what sense does that make? You struggled and now that you successful and ya got kids they gotta go through what you went through? Don't you become successful so ya' kids don't have to go through tha struggle too?" he rants as he puts his address in letting Siri give me directions. I notice when he's upset a thick accent flourish.
"I been doing this sports stuff an they been giving mixed signals and erthin' on whetha or not I need to hustle by working and hobbies like they did or be able to focus on my future an shi." I don't say anything as he keeps ranting on about his parents. Is this the only reason why he called me? So that he can vent about his life?
"Don' listen to siri on this par' she be taking people around tha world. Go this way." He points and I follow where he tells me to go as Siri reroutes.
"Where are you from Justin? I haven't seen you until high school, I know you didn't grow up around here I would have recognized you."
"Down Souf. My folks gota business personalizing stuff and they been making bank, so they came up here a couple of years ago to give us a differen kinda life."
"And you came to Michigan?" I joke. He pauses thinking about what I said and laughs. "I'm joking—Wow that's cool, so that means you probably get to spend a lot of time with them at home?" He shrugs in response. I look at the directions making a right turn.
