"I don't know what made you want to come to this party suddenly, but I won't complain. I'm just glad I can have both my girls there tonight." My father fiddles with his cufflinks with a cool smirk on his face.

"Hm. Well I wish you'd suddenly felt this way yesterday. I want to tell my office all about my baby girl too." She jokes as she fixes her hair in the visor mirror.

"I'll come next time; I promise mom." I smirk at her. I cross my arms as I wait for the two of them to finish up. I'd finally put on my pink jumpsuit I was supposed to wear to homecoming, and I was excited to finally wear it.

I took pictures and sent them to Landon, and he wasted no time posting me of course. I've been trying to hold back feeling embarrassed from the attention I get when he posts me more often.

I've posted him a couple of times but didn't like how much traction my page got only because I posted him. I'm just glad the picture I took was something I would consider post-able because he did it with no warning. One thing is for sure, Landon keeps me on my toes.

This time instead of an open toe heel I picked a patent leather heel from out of my mother's closet to match. They are a half size too big, but I don't mind, the party shouldn't be too long, right?

Getting out of the car, the cold winder air stings my face as snow flurries blow around. I shiver from the transition and hurry inside. As soon as we walk in, there is a table with tags that read "Hello My Name Is" and we have to write our name down in marker. I quickly write down Alex in big letters before my father can complain about me not putting my full name for his corporate event. Once I stick it on, I look down at it proudly as my parents walk in together.

"If I didn't know any better Lexie, I'd say you are excited to be here." My mother says sarcastically. I snort at her snarky comment because I know she's salty about me not going to hers the day before.

"Wouldn't you guys love to hear that?" I fire back with a smile on my face. They stick their freshly written name tags on their attire, and we all walk up the stairs together toward the event.

It's just as I have always expected the holiday parties to be, a bourgeoisie get together that intimidated me completely. I'd hate to say something wrong to one of his coworkers and mess something up he has going on.

"Come on Lexie, let me introduce you to a couple of people." His boastful smirk is already on his face, and I internally groan. Damn, didn't you already talk to everyone the past three parties?

He introduces me to at least five of his colleagues and I keep my fake smile plastered across my face. I felt relief when we finally sit down at a table to start dinner. I don't care what it is I'm just glad to finally eat.

I don't pay anyone mind as I enjoy the meal—it was all family bragging talk anyhow. I sneak a few text messages to Landon as well to let him know how it's going. I know if my parents see me texting, they'd have a fit. When everyone is done, we transition back to walking around and talking.

"Here comes my boss with his grandchildren—be pleasant?" He says through his smile. I sigh before I straighten up. When I look up, I see an older man with a boy and girl trailing behind him dressed up as well.

"Well, if it isn't Alexander and his beautiful family!" He cheers with his arms up and out. "Ha-haaa! So excited to see you all together." The plastered smile on my face drops as I look behind him seeing two people who I hadn't expected to see at this party—Chresanto and Chrestina.

The smile on Chresanto's face almost makes me roll my eyes and Chrestina doesn't dare look me in the eye. We all exchange greetings, and they start to talk to one another. Chrestina and I awkwardly stand to the side across from one another and I think we're both pretending to listen.

"Hey, I think my grandkids are about the same age as your girl—you guys should go and look around. Chres was just telling me that he knows her from school, that is amazing. It may be some things around here for you guys!" My dad's boss is a bit cheerier than I'm used to. I try not to show how creeped out I feel.

"Sounds great granddad, I know a place." Chresanto speaks up. I audibly sigh hearing so and my dad looks down at me before forcing a smile. He gives me a hug and talks through his smile.

"Please be nice Lexie." He kisses the top of my head and I force a closed lip smile.

I trail behind and Chresanto and Chrestina with a pout now on my face. I can't believe this.

"Okay it's time to address the elephant in the room—you two can't leave until its addressed." Chresanto backs us into a corner not letting either of us move.

"There's nothing to talk about Chres." She mumbles I awkwardly fiddle with my thumbs not wanting to look her way. I don't want to say the wrong thing to her since she's been crying about this.

"The hell it isn't. You've been crying for days." He frowns then looks at me. "She thinks you're going to out what happened to everyone." I nearly gasp at the assumption.

"I would never—that is not my place to. Look, I was just stunned I didn't know your intentions. Ive been texting you that I wouldn't go around telling the school."

"That doesn't mean you didn't tell your boyfriend." She mumbles.

"Chrestina I didn't tell Landon. Why would I tell him before I talked to you about it? It happened between you and I and you keep ignoring me."

"I—I was..." She pauses and looks at her twin. He raises his hands up and walks away.

"I was embarrassed, I am embarrassed. I thought if I took a chance and kissed you, you may realize that you feel what I feel." She avoids eye contact as she taps her thigh. "Wrong advice to take from Chres to just kiss you if I just freeze up." She lightly laughs.

"Yes, please do not take advice from him like that." I crack a smile. "I promise I won't go on social media outing you, it's not my place. But—please don't just go kissing someone to tell them that you like them. Especially someone who is in a committed relationship." I say as polite as I can. "I know I haven't told Landon but it's eating at me. I don't want him to think I'm sneaking around."

"You're right and I apologize for putting you in this position...Thank you though, I promise too." She holds her fist out and I put mine out to bump fist with hers.
