Aura

One second I was telling Laiah to leave Tobias alone and next thing I knew Tobias was nowhere to be found and Laiah laid on the floor. Did she really fall asleep that quickly?

"Mama?" I called out waiting on her response, hoping that this was just a sick prank. There was none.

It as hard to think about Tobias whereabouts when my mate was laying unconscious. I knelt  besides her, feeling for a pulse but I gasped as my hand made contact with her frigid skin. It was like fifty degrees Celsius out so her temperature wasn't adding up. I sat down, scooping her up, bringing her closer to my chest. Werewolves were known to have higher body temperatures than average so this better help.

"Mama? Baby wake up!" I shouted trying to shake her awake.

"No. No. No." I whispered. She couldn't leave me now, it's only been a week!

"You'll be okay baby. You have to," I whispered playing with her curls.

Then the door flew open." Laiah there's a meeting with the Russian pack in a fe- what happened to her?" Phanny my beta asked rushing to my side.

Next thing I knew I was crying like a big bitch," s-she c-collapsed and I-i don't know why to do!"

"How long has its been?" He asks.

"I don't know maybe 5 minutes!"

He took his hands and brought it to her nose." She'll be fine Aura. She's breathing but I think you should take her to the pack doctors. I'll tell your dad that you're unable to attend the meeting."

"No! Let my father rest. He's been weak lately so I don't think he can handle a meeting. You'll represent the pack. Inform me on the happenings afterward."

He gave me a nod of acknowledgment as he got up and left the office.

How did I not know what to do? I was such a bad mate! Any other being would have checked her breathing first then bring her to the hospital and I was just here siting, doing absolutely nothing!

It took me a moment before I actually moved from my spot and ran to the hospital.

"Move!" I shouted as I brushed past pack members in the hallway. Luckily for me I was quick and made it to the pack doctor in 3 minutes.

"Somebody help! Help me!" I yelled as I burst through the double doors.

Nurses began rushing towards me , taking Laiah from my grasp and I did nothing but stare.

I just got her and I was already losing her. We didn't get to go in a first date, to do all the cute couple stuff ,I didn't know her favorite colour, or what was her favourite movie.
I knew nothing about my mate besides the fact that she is a horny fellow and a chef; a damn good one at that!

I felt terrible, like the shittiest mate ever. If everything goes well I'm taking her out on a date as soon as she's better.

"Why don't you have a seat Alpha? " Zodiac says tapping my shoulder.

I nodded still out of it and sat on the plastic blue chairs either way.

"Do you need help? Why are you here?" I'm surprised that she didn't know already. Word usually moved quickly in these parts.

"My mate."I muttered. I didn't care anymore of people knowing that I had a mate, it was the least of my worries.

"Congratulations." She smiles cheerily.

I was about to say something when we were interrupted by a doctor ," Zody hurry. We need you in the surgery room. It's urgent."

"What's wrong?" We both asked.

" It's Tobias, he's pregnant but their are a few complications. The baby doesn't have a heart. If we don't remove him now, both the mother and child d lose their lives." He explains.

"Shit!" Zodiac ran further in the building with the doctor on her tail.

She was right all along! I'm so stupid! Why didn't I believe her? She'd never once lied to me so why would she lie about something so serious? It was official I was the world's worst mate! I was Alpha for fucks sake! I was meant to lead, and take care of the pack. How can I run a pack of I can't even take care of my mate?

That didn't stop me from being confused. Not even doctors could look at someone and know that their baby was dying! I knew for certain now that she wasn't human.

And now with everything going on I was so tired and frustrated. When will I get a break! Bad things just kept on fucking happening. All I wanted was to spend the rest of my life with my beautiful Laiah but it looks like any if these things would be happening soon.

Shit Laiah!

I followed her scent which lead to room four hundred and seventy three. I opened the door without knocking and that was when I smelt it...blood.

Someone was hurting my mate more than she already was. I stalked to the nurse and grabbed her by the neck with no plans to let her go. 

"L-let g-go!" She gasped out.

"You hurt mate!" I growled. My wolf was surfacing. If someone doesn't stop me now I'm pretty sure I'll kill her.

"Aura stop! She's just took a blood test!" I turn my head to find a tall brunette standing by the door way.

I slowly released the nurse and placed her on the floor.

" Really Aura you want to kill the nurse that's helping your mate?" My sister growled.

I hung my head low, ashamed. 

"Oh no..." I heard my sister groan.

I turned towards where she was standing next to my beautiful, peaceful looking mate trying to figure out what was wrong.

"Her blood." She whispered," it's golden."

Well fuck.

"I've never seen golden blood before." She says looking at the metallic gold liquid in the container that she held.

"Is she going to be okay?" 

"Oh she's fine. She collapse due to exhaustion. She'll be awake soon." She assured.

I released a breathe that I knew I was holding. She was resting that's all. I went closer to her and laid my hands on her chest.

Then I immediately began panicking. Something was wrong, something was seriously wrong." Mavis ...s-she doesn't have a heartbeat."
