"Hi." I hear a southern accent from next to me. " I'm Andrea, but everyone calls me Andy." I look to my left to see a short, blonde girl with eyes the color of the ocean. She had a warm and welcoming smile.
"Oh. I didn't see you there." Then I realized what I said may had sound wrong." No, I mean-"
"It's ok, I get that a lot. I'm not offended at all." She giggles and puts out her right hand.
I return the gesture and shake her hand. I hear a cough from behind me, when I noticed Sean was still in the room.
"Uh, this is my friend Sean, Sean this is Andy." I introduce the both of them.
"Fran, I heard." Oh yeah, he decided to follow me into to the dorm without my permission and stand there for God knows how long.
"Well I best be leaving you ladies. I gotta go find my dorm." Im impressed by his imitation of a southern accent. "Bye ladies.""Well isn't he the cutest." Andy walks past me to her desk.
"Yeah, he's like that sometimes." I stroll over to unpack my stuff.
"Boyfriend?"
"Huh?"
"Is he your boyfriend Franny?" She smirks.
"Uh, no. He's been my best friend since kindergarten and still is."
"That's sweet. Too bad, you two would've made a cute couple." She stands up from her work and skips over to me.
I could tell you right now, that Andy was the type of girl everyone wants to be friends with.
Her personality was bubbly, and you could tell she played a sport of some sort. It was pretty clear through the shorts she was wearing. Soccer maybe.
"What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Oh yes I do, his name is Andrew. Cutest thing you ever did see. He's on the football team, so you'll probably see him at games and other events. I should introduce you two sometime." She offers.
"I'd like that. I need all the friends I can get."
"What you're not from here?"
"Nope. From Wisconsin." She looks taken back for a second. "I know, I know, Wisconsin and Nebraska are enemies when it comes to football, but I just got sick and tired of the Wisconsin life, try something new. And no I'm not a spy."
She laughs. "I wasn't going to say that, but good. It's nice to see someone from a different state come here. And I promise to protect you from any threats thrown at you. Ok?"
"Thanks Andy." I jump onto the bed after putting everything away.
"That's what I'm here for. So did Sean show you around Nebraska?" She grabs her purse off the bed.
"He showed me around campus, but not Omaha itself."
"Well today's your lucky day. I was just gonna go shopping, you can come along if you want."
"Um..." I hesitate.
"Oh come on Franny. Your not really going to sit hear the whole day are you?" She walks to the door. "I know there's a TV, Netflix and all, but today's the day to hang out with your new friend. What do you say?"
"Sure. I guess your right." I stand up from the edge of the bed.
"Of course I'm right. Now lets go." She beckons me over.
