Alexander Stewart - Best Damn Thing:
'Cause you're the best damn thing I've ever had and I don't know what I'd do if I'd ever lose you.'

Lexi sighed while she closed her textbook. She had been studying for about a week straight as her first final would start on Monday. Because of her job at McLaren, she hadn't been studying as much as she normally would and although her grades were amazing, Lexi was still a bit stressed about it. The last couple of months had been amazing, travelling around the world with her first-ever boyfriend and the job she loved doing the most, but it had been quite exhausting and she missed being back home in her room sometimes. Lando would be driving in the last race of the first half of the season this Sunday, but Lexi had taken this weekend off to focus on finishing her studies. Even though they were working in the same industry and saw each other all the time around the paddock, it had been difficult to spend a lot of time together, as weeks went by. Lexi had gotten more assignments, as McLaren thought she was a brilliant photographer and Lando had to focus to keep his 4th place in the Driver's Championship. He had been battling a lot with Sergio Perez and his teammate Daniel and they were swapping positions each race.

The practice had gone great today for Lando and Lexi was proud to see him do so well. It hurt her heart a bit to have to watch him on tv instead of being there with him, but she was sure she would see him again soon. She knew he had already planned a trip with his friends in the upcoming break and she was going to Italy with her parents, so she was desperate to get some alone time with him before then. Lexi walked down the stairs because her mom had called up to say dinner was ready a couple of minutes ago. "How is your studying coming along? Soaking up all the information in that big brain of yours?" Her dad said and Lexi laughed. "Well, it's not new information so I just have to repeat it as often as I can to remember it. I can't wait to get these finals over and done with and then I never have to look at another textbook ever again. I have my dream job already anyway". She said while her mom added some vegetables to her plate.

Lexi had missed her parents a lot when she was travelling and loved being home for a few weeks to catch up with them. They had met Lando a couple of times and they adored him. Her brother Joey had been quite starstruck the first time he came around their house, but because Lando was such a 'normal' guy, they became great friends right away. They talked some more about Lexi's finals and the upcoming vacation they had planned and Lexi felt her heart sink a little when her mom spoke about her boyfriend. "We haven't seen Lando in a while. Everything okay between you two?". Lexi sighed and looked down at her plate. "Yes, we're fine. It's just a little difficult to make time for each other at the moment. Lando is so busy with his racing and all the media stuff around it and I got extra assignments from the team as well. So when we do see each other in the hotel or at his house, we're just exhausted and go to sleep straight away. We need to have some alone time soon, that's all". Lexi said and she knew it would be difficult with the break coming up.

Later that evening, when she was cuddled up in her bed with another textbook on her lap, Lexi decided to give Lando a call to see if he was back at the hotel yet. The sound of the phone ringing lasted a little while before he finally picked up. "Hey.." She heard him breathe on the other side. "Hi, just wanted to check if you were in the hotel already. I miss you". She said and she heard him running around the room, all out of breath. "Ehh yeah, I'm in my room right now but I'm heading straight out again for dinner so I will call you later okay?" Lexi sighed and closed her eyes. She knew how this would go. He would go out for dinner, be back late and call her when she was already asleep. Then tomorrow morning, she would call him again and he would say he can't talk because he has to go to the track. It had been like this for a while. "Yeah okay, have a nice evening. I love you". She said to him and she heard him say goodbye before he hung up the phone. He had never ended a call without saying 'I love you too' before. It told Lexi that they were headed in the wrong direction if it went on like this and she hated it.
