After the race in Hungary, Lando flew home immediately after all the debriefs and media duties. He had been exhausted these last couple of weeks and loved the thought of having a little break and going on a trip with some of the boys. The trip had been planned for a long time and because none of the other boys had girlfriends, it didn't feel right to bring Lexi on this trip. He hadn't seen his friends in a long time and even though he would have loved to have her there, this was important to him too. He wanted to pick Lexi up from her finals at school later and they could have a quick dinner before he had to go home again to pack. He hated being away from her so much and even if they were around each other, they still had nearly no alone time. He decided to not tell Lexi that he was about to pick her up but he did send her a text to wish her good luck.

Lando ✌️:
Good luck with your finals today, love. I know you studied very hard and you will rock this! I miss you and I love you ❤️ x

Lexi 😍:
Thanks babe, I can't wait for this week to be over. I'll text you when I'm done okay? I love you too 💕 x

Lando smiled and he loved the thought that she had no clue he would be picking her up later. He had texted Olivia to ask her if she knew what time Lexi would be done and she told him her last final of the day ended around 3 PM. That gave him a few hours to unpack his suitcase from this past weekend and start his washing.

When it was about 2.45 PM Lando got in his car and drove to the university Lexi attended. He had picked her up a few times before and parked in the same place he usually did. She would walk past his car on her way out so she would spot him right away. He waited for a few minutes before he saw some students exiting the building. Lexi waved at a couple of classmates and turned to walk his way and when she looked up he saw a huge smile grow on her face. She came running to his car and he got out to greet her. Lexi's arms flew around his neck and he kissed her forehead. "Hey baby, how did it go?" He said while pulling back to look her in the eyes. "It went alright, I'm just glad it's over for today and even more thrilled to see you standing here". Lexi smiled and he could see how happy she was to see him. "Want to go grab something to eat together? I can't spend the entire evening with you because I still have to pack and my flight leaves early tomorrow morning, but we have at least a couple of hours together". "I would love that". Lexi said and she got in the passenger side of the car.

They drove to a restaurant nearby and got seated at a table near the window. "How did you know what time I would be done?" Lexi asked, still in shock that he stood outside her school waiting for her. "I texted Olivia. I had a feeling she would know what time it would end and I was right". He chuckled while choosing a dish from the menu he held in his hand. "I'm really happy to see you, Lando. I have had a bad feeling for a few weeks now and I was really sad these last few days". Lexi looked really sad. "I'm sorry babe, I should have told you that my schedule would be getting busier as the season went on before we started our relationship. I don't want to hurt you, but I can't really change anything about it.." Lando looked at her while he chewed on his lip. He had been thinking about this for a while. He was only hurting her like this. Not being able to spend any time with her, pick her up for a quick dinner and then going away for a while again. He started to wonder if he was what she deserved.

"Thank you for dinner, Lando. It was lovely to see you even if it was for just a couple of hours". Lexi said when Lando dropped her off at her car so she could take it home. "I'm really sorry I have to leave again so soon. But I promise I will call and FaceTime you when I'm in Croatia okay?" He said and she nodded. Lando's hand cupped her cheek and he felt a tear roll down on his thumb. He wiped it away and pulled her head slightly up so she would look into his eyes. "Please don't cry baby, I love you, I promise". He leaned in to kiss her and their lips just clung to each other for a while. Neither of them wanting to let go. They both felt the tension of him leaving again and it was a lot to take in. "I really need to go, I have to pack still". Lando said softly and he gave her another kiss on her forehead. "Good luck with the rest of your finals babe, you're almost done and then you can go to Italy with your family to relax". They said goodbye and Lexi turned around to wave one last time before she stepped into her own car. Lando felt an empty feeling in the pit of his stomach when he drove off and there was a tear of his own rolling on his cheek now. He knew this wouldn't end well if they kept going like this..
