Friday Hill - Baby Goodbye:
'I wanted you to go your way, I wanted me to go mine. I'm sitting here thinking, passing the time. I wanted you to go your war, I wanted me to go mine, but I never thought you'd say: baby goodbye'

Lexi was walking around in circles in her room. Her phone was buzzing on her desk and when she picked it up and saw Lando's name and picture appear, she threw it on her bed. 'Did he just tell me he kissed someone else? Was this another nightmare?' She had a lot of them the last few days and it kept her up most nights. Lexi had been so happy today, she had finished her last final and had a lovely dinner with some classmates to celebrate. Why did the evening take such a turn? And on top of that, she had to pack for their vacation to Italy. They would leave tomorrow morning. When she heard the buzzing noise again, she decided to pick up. She stayed quiet until she heard him crying on the other side of the line. "Please l-listen to me, Lex.. She kissed me, I didn't k-kiss her back. I was just frozen on my seat from s-shock and as soon as I realised I pushed her off me and r-ran away". Lexi's heart broke when she heard his sobs through the phone. "You don't deserve any of this. I'm the worst boyfriend in the world. You should get all the attention and someone who does anything for you. I don't know if I can give you that at the moment". Even though Lexi didn't agree with what he said, she knew where this was going.

"You're not the worst boyfriend in the world. You have been amazing to me. We're just too busy right now.." She said softly and she heard Lando let out a sigh on the other end of the line. "Are you mad at me? I really didn't do anything to make her kiss me, I promise!" He said and she believed him. "I know. It's just hard to hear that there are other girls having fun with you guys over there, while I'm here all by myself". A tear rolled down her cheeks and she heard that Lando was still crying too. "I really don't want to do this, but you deserve so much more than I can give you right now. Maybe we should just focus on our own lives for a moment and then we will find our way back to each other someday. I know we belong together, it's just really hard to see you so hurt all the time, knowing it's my fault". Lexi swallowed and was silent for a moment. This wasn't what she wanted at all. But maybe it would be for the best. "I don't want to lose you Lando". "You will never lose me, we're just focussing on ourselves and getting our lives back together for a while". Lexi nodded, even though he couldn't see her.

This was the hardest conversation she ever had in her life. "I will always be just a phone call away, okay? I'll still be there for you when you need me and I love you just as much as I did when we first started dating. Even more". Lexi's soft crying had turned into loud sobs and she heard a knock on her door. She opened the door while she was still on the phone and her mom came in to sit next to her on the bed. "I love you too, I'm sorry.. Goodbye Lando". She said and he said bye to her too before they hung up. Lexi threw her phone down and broke down into tears in her mom's arms. They stayed like this rocking back and forward for a while before her mom spoke up: "What's the matter baby? Talking about it will help, you know.." Lexi sat up straight and wiped some tears from her face. "W-w-we just broke up". She stuttered and started sobbing again. Her mom looked at her sympathetically and pulled her close. "That sounded like the most peaceful breakup ever then. Will you tell me more about it please?"

They sat talking on Lexi's bed for over an hour and her mom had really helped her with some advice and her thoughts about everything. Maybe it was for the best to let each other go for a while. If they were meant to be, they would always find their way back together. Lexi loved him so much and she knew he loved her too. It was just a matter of time. Her mom helped her pack her suitcase for their trip and she brought over a cup of tea before Lexi went to bed. Tomorrow morning at the break of dawn they would be heading to the airport to go to Italy, so Lexi needed to get some sleep now. She looked in the mirror when she brushed her teeth and saw the 'L' necklace Lando gave her when he asked her to be his girlfriend. It hurt a lot when she took it off and even though she couldn't wear it anymore, she put it in her wallet to take with her on the trip.

"Will you just put your phone down for a second and come play with us now, mate?" Max said when Lando was scrolling through his last messages with Lexi again. He was broken after their phone call last night and he hadn't told any of the boys yet. They were on a golf course and technically, Lando was playing with them but he wasn't really in the mood. He sat down in one of the golf carts and put his head in his hands. "What's going on with you today?" He saw Max standing in front of him when he looked up and he sighed. Lando took off his sunglasses and he knew his friend could see that he had been crying. "Lexi and I broke up last night. We don't have enough time for each other at the moment. Stella kissed me last night in the kitchen before I came running out back into the garden and I called Lexi later to tell her. She was angry at first, but our issues started way before that. We have to focus on ourselves right now". He let out a big breath when he was done with his story and Max gave him a hug. "It will be alright, I know it will be". He said to cheer his friend up.

"Oh yeah, I have been meaning to tell you this. Stella has told everyone that you kissed her and you told her you liked her and wanted to be with her and stuff. No one believes her, that girl is crazy". Max said and although Lando was in shock at first, he started laughing right after. "I can't even think about that right now. I know it isn't true. Lexi knows it isn't true, that's all that matters". He said shaking his head. Max pulled his friend up from the golf carts and took him to the pitch where they continued their game with the rest of the boys. It was nice to take his mind off it for a while and Lando was happy he had decided to go with them this afternoon.

On their way back to the house, he felt his phone vibrate. Maybe one of his family members wanted to reach him, or someone from the team? He looked at his phone and saw Lexi's name and '1 new message' on his screen. His eyes went big and his heart started racing. They hadn't talked since they ended things last night and he didn't know what she could possibly be texting him for. Maybe she was angry after thinking about it? He didn't want to open the message at first, but after a few minutes the curiosity took over.

Lexi 😍:
Just wanted to let you know that I've landed in Italy. I'm really sad but I hope we can figure this out somehow. You still mean the world to me even though we can't be together right now 😢 Enjoy the rest of your holiday! x

Lando hadn't changed her name on his phone yet and he didn't want to but seeing it like this hurt a lot. Her message was so sweet and he felt relieved that she agreed this was for the best for now. She wasn't angry and she wanted to figure it out with him. With a slightly better feeling, he answered her message just as they pulled up on the driveway of their vacation home.

Lando ✌️:
It's really hard for me too and I didn't want this at all but it is for the best. I want to give you everything you deserve and I can't do that right now. We'll talk again soon! I hope you have a lovely time in Italy! 😘 x

They were both getting a little more closure from messaging each other and Lando was glad they ended things on such good terms. He decided to tell the rest of his friends why he had been so down lately and they were very supportive. They spent the evening watching movies and having some drinks and Lando went to bed early. He needed to catch up on some hours of sleep. Before he got into bed he called his mother to tell her what happened and even though she was in shock first, she totally understood his decision and thought it was really mature of him to think about what Lexi needed from him. It was nice to get some motherly advice and with an overall good feeling, he fell into a peaceful sleep. When he woke up a few hours later, he rolled over to the other side of the bed to cuddle Lexi. Except the bed was empty. He opened his eyes and looked around. For a moment he didn't know where he was and why she wasn't next to him. Then all the memories came back. 'She will not sleep next to me anymore..'
