12 | Two-man team

It was Lexi & Lando's first long car journey together and they soon found out that they both liked to sing along with the music quite loudly. Their music taste was also pretty similar and Lexi made them a playlist of all their favourites to listen and sing along to. It took about 2 hours to get to Lando's parents and it would be over before they knew it. Lexi was feeling more confident around Lando and she wasn't as shy anymore. He pulled her out of her shell and he was surprised with how easy it was for her to grab his thigh while he was driving. However, she didn't notice what this did to him. Lando felt her nails tickle the skin of his leg in a rip in his jeans and it somehow made him squirm a little in his seat. His jeans were getting quite tight and he was about to take her hand and put it on her own lap when she moved it to grab her phone.

He sighed and took the highway exit close to his parents' house. 'Please don't let me think about this all the time with my parents around' he thought. When they arrived he parked the car on the driveway and grabbed everything they needed from the car. Lando opened the boot, took out the flowers and champagne for his parents and walked to Lexi. "Ready to go in?" he asked and she nodded with a big smile on her face. When he opened the door, he heard his mom call out for him: "Lando? Is that you?" He knew she was in the kitchen en took Lexi's hand to lead her there. "Hi mom!" he said when he walked in and he saw his mom only had eyes for Lexi. "Oh my gosh, it's so good to see you again!" Cisca said while walking over to the first girl he ever brought home.

"It's been so long. I didn't think you would remember me. Lando didn't, that's for sure". Lexi said and they started laughing. "Of course I remember you, I always hoped Lando would come home with a girl like you and here you are!" Cisca gave her a hug and Lexi felt right at home. "Will dad be home for dinner?" Lando asked while he gave his mom her flowers and she nodded happily. "Yes, dad, Flo & Cisca (his younger sister) will be here". She said. "Okay, then I will give Lexi a tour of the house and garden now!" He called out and grabbed Lexi's hand. They toured the kitchen, living- and dining room area and headed upstairs. "This was my old bedroom. It's still the same as it was when I was younger".

Lexi looked around and saw walls full of racing posters and a shelf with lots of trophies. "This is so cool to see. I pictured your room to have looked like this when we were younger". Lando moved here with his parents after living near London where Lexi lives, until he was 14. The karting opportunities were better here and it showed. He finished the upstairs tour and took Lexi to the garden. It was very big and they had a stable with horses in the back for his sister Flo. "Flo is a showjumper and these are hers". Lexi loved horses. She slowly moved towards one of them and held her hand in front of its nose. She softly stroked his mane afterwards and a huge smile appeared on her face. "She will love you if you like them too". "I do". Lexi said.

Later that afternoon Lando's dad came home with the two girls. They were really excited to see their brother had taken home a girl. Flo remembered Lexi from school, even though she was a couple of years younger than them. Adam patted Lando on the back and they started talking about the last race. "I went to see your horses earlier, they are gorgeous". Lexi said to Flo. "Have you ridden one before?" she asked. Lexi nodded. "A long time ago, but I loved it". "You can come over to ride anytime you want, I would love to teach you!" Flo called out and Lando was right, his sister loved Lexi already. Cisca called them over for dinner and Lexi hadn't seen anything like it before. The entire table was covered with all types of food. It smelled like heaven in the dining room and Lexi's stomach growled at the thought of eating all of this.

"So where did you guys meet each other again?" Adam asked. He didn't remember Lexi, just like Lando hadn't recognized her at first. "We were actually in the same class in elementary school and the first 2 years of secondary school before Lando left". Lexi said to him. "And then we met again a couple of weeks ago when I had to take pictures for an interview with Lando and Daniel for Autosport Magazine". Adam nodded his head and looked at his son. He could tell Lando was happy and he loved the sight he saw in front of him. "You look happy". Adam said. "I am". Lando placed his hand on Lexi's on the table and she was surprised about the show of affection in front of his family. She looked up and smiled at him.

"Thank you so much for dinner Cisca". Lexi said when she helped Lando's mom clean up the dishes. "You're so welcome, my dear. It doesn't happen often that Lando comes home and takes a girl with him so I wanted to make all of my specialities". She put her hand on Lexi's shoulder and Lexi loved her already. "It was delicious, you have to teach me how to make that casserole sometime". Lexi said. "I see you two get on really well". Lexi turned around and saw Lando was standing in the doorway, looking at them. "We do. She is lovely, Lando. Please let this be a reason to come home more often". Cisca said. Lando walked over to his mom and pressed a kiss on her cheek. "We will, mom".

After another hour of talking and laughing with Lando's family, it was time to go home again. Luckily it was Sunday tomorrow, so they didn't have to be up early. They said goodbye to Cisca, Adam, Flo & little Cisca and got inside the car. Lexi started up their playlist again and they were off, headed home. Halfway through the drive, she lifted her hand and slipped them into Lando's curls. She loved stroking the back of his neck and he sighed when she tickled him slightly. Her hand slipped down his neck to his shoulders, over his arm and landed on his leg. She rubbed circles in the rip of his jeans with her thumb again and Lando let out a whimper. "You have no idea what it does to me when you do that". He said with a blush on his cheeks.

"Hmm, maybe I will keep doing it then". Lexi smirked at him and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "I had a lovely time seeing your family again, Lando. They are so sweet". He looked at her and noticed the sparkle in those beautiful brown eyes he adored so much. "I loved taking you here and showing you everything. I have never done that with any girl before". "Thank you". She whispered. They continued their way home and Lexi laughed a lot in the next hour, mainly because of Lando's singing skills. "Would you like to stay over tonight? It's late already.." Lando had been thinking about this question ever since she put her hand in his hair. "Sure, I already prepared a bag". Lexi chuckled and Lando sighed when he pulled up on his driveway. 'If she could have said that sooner, that would have been great'.
