Tyler Shaw - To The Man Who Let Her Go:
'Bring her flowers on a weekday, run a bath just to let her know she means the world to me. Make her dinner when she's home late, pull her close when she's getting cold. Just to let her know she means the world to me'
The weekend was over before they knew it and the team landed back in England this morning after a successful race weekend with P4 for Lando and P6 for Daniel. Lexi had to hurry home because of her graduation this afternoon so she left quite quickly and Lando was so relieved the day had finally come. It was difficult to hold back these past few days and he was surprised to see her wear the necklace he gave her to the team dinner last Thursday. It told him that she missed him too. It was hard not to say anything about it or let her notice his stare but he couldn't keep his eyes off her all night. Lando knew she must have seen him look at her at least a couple of times. He grabbed his suitcase and headed to the car park before he made the drive back to his house.
Lando had talked to Olivia last night to arrange everything on her end and he still had a few things to take care of himself. He needed to pick out an outfit to wear, he wanted to get Lexi a gift and some flowers and if everything went smoothly and she wanted to come to his house with him afterwards, he wanted to have the room decorated with candles and rose petals. He started with unpacking his suitcase and picking out his outfit for tonight. Lando decided on a pair of black jeans with a white button-up shirt and some sneakers. When he had laid out his clothes, he cleaned up the kitchen and folded all the clean laundry. For dinner, he just wanted to order in so he didn't have to prepare anything. When the house was all clean, Lando hopped back into his car to pick out a graduation gift and the biggest bunch of flowers anyone has ever seen.
The bracelet he chose was simple and dainty but had some nice sparkles to it and Lando knew that she would love it. The bouquet of flowers was pink and white and was a mixture of peonies, roses and lilies, Lexi's favourites. He also bought some rose petals, which he spread all throughout his hall and living room. It was around 1.30 PM already when he was finished decorating and the ceremony would start at 3, so Lando needed to get ready. He hopped in the shower, dried his hair and put on the chosen outfit afterwards. He put the gift in his pocket and grabbed the flowers before he headed to his car. Lexi's school wasn't too far and he wanted to arrive a little later anyway, so he was right on time. Lando texted Liv to tell her everything was going according to plan and she told him the same.

Lexi was so nervous. Olivia had helped her get ready and she couldn't believe she was about to graduate. She walked over to the mirror and checked her appearance one last time. She was wearing a stunning white satin dress that Liv had made just for her, some black heeled sandals and her hair was curled. Olivia had told her to wear her 'L' necklace for good luck and she added some other gold jewellery. When they headed downstairs, her mom was crying and her dad was taking pictures. "We're so proud of you sweetie, let's get you graduated shall we?" Her dad said before they left for her school. Lexi drove with Liv and her parents followed in their car. The school parking lot was very busy as everyone's families were joining them this afternoon. Lexi headed inside to the room where she and her classmates had to wait to be called into the big hall where everyone was seated. "I'll see you soon, okay? Have fun!" Olivia said when she left with Lexi's parents to take their seat.
She chatted with some of her classmates for a while before they were called in. They entered the room from the side and had a designated seating area just for them. Lexi looked around the place and waved at her parents and Liv before she took her seat. Their principal started his speech and afterwards, the first students were being called up. As her last name started with an A, Lexi knew she would be next. "Alexis Charlotte Abrams". Her student counsellor said and Lexi stood up. While walking to the stage she heard her dad whistle on his fingers and she saw the tears in her mom's eyes. However, she never saw the boy with the huge bunch of flowers at the back of the room. "Congratulations". She received her diploma and walked off the stage on the other side. She looked at her family again and held her degree in the air. The rest of the ceremony went by quickly and Liv's arms flew around her neck when they reunited.
"I'm so proud of you!" Olivia said when Lexi had hugged all her guests. "I'm so glad this is over with". She let out a chuckle while she sighed. "Let's take some pictures, shall we?" Her dad said and he grabbed Lexi's camera which she told them to bring. Lexi posed with her mom and Liv before her mom took over and took a picture of Lexi and her dad. "We also need one from you, holding up your diploma". Liv said and Lexi stood back and posed with her newly received certificate. "Oh my gosh, you have to see how good you look!" Her best friend said when she checked the photo on the camera screen. Lexi walked over and looked at the photo when she felt a shock go through her body. There, on that little tiny screen, was a picture of her posing and a boy with the biggest bouquet of flowers anyone had ever seen behind her.
Lexi's eyes lifted up and she looked straight at him. 'Lando is here. Why is Lando here?' She thought. "Hey Lex, I just wanted to congratulate you on graduating. I'm so proud of you". He said while he walked over to her. Olivia and Lexi's parents had quietly stepped away and there she was, all alone with him for the first time in weeks. "W-wha.. W-wh.. H-how?" Lexi couldn't get a word out. "Liv called me and told me everything. We both came up with this idea to surprise you and I just wanted to be here for you". He looked at her with the sweetest look in his eyes and Lexi couldn't hold back the tears anymore. She fell forward into his arms and the feeling she got from his touch was like sparkles running through her veins. They held each other for a while before Lexi pulled back and looked him in the eyes again. "You aren't mad at me?" She asked him softly and he shook his head.
"We can head back to my house later to talk about everything if you want to?" Lando asked before he kissed her forehead. "I missed you Lex and I'm so sorry I haven't been there for you these last few weeks". Lexi looked down and hugged him again. Him being here was the best thing she could have ever imagined and she was so happy to see him smiling at her again. "Let's go talk to my parents for a while and then we can go to your place okay?" Lexi said and they walked outside to where the others were. "Look at you two, I'm so happy it worked out just how we wanted". Olivia said while high-fiving Lando. "Thank you Liv, I don't know how you did it, but it means the world to me". Lexi said and she hugged her best friend. They chatted for a while before Lexi and Lando said goodbye to them and headed to his car. "You look stunning by the way, I love that dress on you". Lando said and Lexi felt the blushes on her cheeks like this was the first date all over again.
There was a bit of tension in the car on the 15-minute drive before Lexi heard Lando speak up again. "Listen, we'll talk about it in more detail later but I know what happened with Mark from Autosport. I just really want to put my hand on your knee and I don't know if you want me to touch you right now?" Lexi looked up at him and smiled. It was quite difficult to let people touch her after what happened with Mark, but she trusted Lando. "Lando.." She said and he turned his head towards her. "I trust you, okay? You touching me is something completely different and I know you will never hurt me". She said while looking into his eyes. Lando lifted his hand and softly placed it on her thigh. He started to rub small circles on it with his thumb and Lexi felt the sparkles shoot up her spine. Oh my god, she had missed him..
