BILLIE O'CONNELL

"the fact that we don't have any classes together is so ass." i complained.

it's now the second semester. unlike how we had a class together last semester, we have no classes together this semester.

my class is on the way to ag's class, so she offered to walk me to my class. i had my arms wrapped around her right arm, as always.

she leaned down to press a kiss to the top of my head as we walked. "it'll be fine, lovebug. yeah, it sucks, but it won't be too bad."

"whatever," i mumbled. "can we still nap after this class?"

"yeah, of course." she grinned.

we reached my class, and i let out a sigh. i pressed the top of my head into ag's chest as i looked down at the ground. "i don't wanna go."

"i know; but you gotta get your degree, remember, lil' one?" she reminded me.

"i'm not here to make friends; i'm here to get a damn degree and be done." i rolled my eyes.

"okay, but it wouldn't hurt you to at least be nice. damn." she muttered.

"why were you so persistent?" i asked quietly.

"huh?" her brows furrowed.

"why were you so persistent to get me to like you? i was such an asshole to you." i frowned.

"i mean, you still are an asshole to me," she teased. "but i dunno. you were— are very intriguing. and like... there's just something so satisfying about getting someone to like you, even though they hate everyone else, you know? i also just don't like when people dislike me; it bothers the fuck outta me. which i mean, that's life, so i'm gonna have to get used to it, but... i dunno." she shrugged.

she looked down at me, tilting her head. "why were you so mean?"

i avoided her eyes. "if you don't let people in... you can't get hurt." i mumbled.

she didn't say anything, but instead wrapped her arms around me to pull me into a tight hug. she pressed a long kiss to the top of my head.

she pulled back. "you should get to class, babygirl."

"yeah," i cleared my throat. "you too."

she leaned down to steal a quick kiss, before telling me goodbye and walking off to her class. i let out a small sigh as i walked into my class.
