That voice... was so caring that Ahsoka immediately forgot her fears.
"Where... where am I?"
She asked cautiously, before standing up again.
Her rib hurt on the second try, of course, but she had quickly regained her old pattern, and simply ignored the pain.
"At my house. I fished you out of the water" grumbled the man.
"But you have to stay down girl. You've hurt yourself in the fall. And before that, too, it looks like." he added.
Ahsoka nodded. "But sitting is okay, right?"
The man gave an approving growl.
"Gotta eat something. Elise cooked you something." he said, holding out a bowl to her.
Carefully Ahsoka grabbed for it, then she smelled on it.
It smelled intensely of forest and herbs, and drove her hunger up by lengths.
At first she reached for it with the hand, but then realized that it was soup.
An amused grumble came from the man's direction.
"You'll have to use a spoon to eat it," he said
Ahsoka felt along the edge of the bowl until she found it.
The man watched her do so, slightly surprised.
"You can't see it?" he wanted to know.
"Am blind," Ahsoka replied, grabbing the spoon.
"Hmm." the man said in response.
"Always have been?"
"I don't know. My memory is a bit jumbled" Ahsoka mumbled before shoving a spoonful of the soup into her mouth.
The soup tasted incredible. As if a piece of forest had been put into it. Maybe it was just because Ahsoka had not been used to food tasting like anything for a long time.
The man growled again, in his warm deep tone.
"You can stay here for now if you want. You need to recover anyway" he explained.
For a while they sat in silence while Ahsoka spooned the soup.
It felt good to eat something warm, it seemed as if the warmth worked its way deep inside her and pulled the last of the tension out of her limbs.
That was exactly what she needed.
When she was done, he carefully took the bowl from her hand, set it aside and helped Ahsoka lie down again.
Then he put the blanket around her and stood up.
"You need to get some sleep now. Osane will be here tomorrow. She can take better care of your wounds." he explained to her.
She just nodded.
She didn't mind sleeping, for fatigue had already worked its way deep into her limbs.
The man walked out of the room, carefully closing the door behind him.
Ahsoka's eyes were already slowly falling shut.
The room was pleasantly warm, the bed soft beneath her, the surroundings peaceful and safe.
There was nothing to prevent her from falling asleep, or to disturb her sleep.
She yawned once more, snuggled tightly into the blanket, and closed her eyes completely.
And with that, she drifted away into the land of the sleeping.
And no bad dream came to disturb her.
Only a peaceful black silence that allowed her to rest.
At least this night.
