She put the bandages on herself with a practiced grips.
But it took her a while to get into the clothes.
It was different from what she had worn before.
Instead of the thin cool fabric, she was now wrapped in a dress made of wool. But it felt comfortable. So soft...
The first few steps the dress made her lose her balance, because it was so unfamiliar that the fabric almost reached her feet.
But then it worked.
She smiled and stretched slightly.
It was really what she needed.
Now, after the bath and in clean clothes she felt much better.
A little more alive again. She carefully opened the door and felt her way down the stairs.
The others were already waiting downstairs, sitting at the table. Ahsoka joined them and together the family began to eat their lunch.
With fresh berries.
"Thank you," Ahsoka mumbled sheepishly.
The others looked up. She sensed slight confusion in them.
"For finding me and helping me" she quietly added in the back.
She felt Elise smile softly. "Oh that goes without saying. It's not like we can just abandon you in the forest again" she said.
Ahsoka smiled slightly.
If she still had her memories she would have known why she admired these people so much. Why she appreciated their kindness so much.
It was because there were far too few people like them in this galaxy. Far too few people who simply helped when someone needed help without asking why.
Far too few people who were simply good.
These people liked to live a simple life. Far away from technology, electricity and modern achievements. But they lived a life that was worth living.
They lived in the light. With the whole soul.
That was what brightened Ahsoka's day. That made her feel so at home here.
The simplicity of the light. That required nothing more than an innocent smile. But also nothing less.
Besides... Ahsoka had had enough of electricity for the time being, even if she didn't quite realize it.
She still carried enough scars from it.
The family finished eating and then they cleaned up together.
Ahsoka helped with the dishes.
Afterwards, they all snuggled up on the sofas in the living room and Thomas told a story.
Ahsoka listened intently to the tale, which contained so much magic and enchantment that the real world just wasn't able to keep up.
She found that it was nice to let words take her to other worlds for a moment.
It was a soothing experience.
She memorized the story. She wanted to bring it to someone she was sure would like it.
She just didn't know who 'he' was.
But that was not important.
She closed her eyes.
And before the story was completely over, she had already fallen asleep.
