When Rex saw Ahsoka, he did not know what to say.
There she stood before him in the bright light of Tatooin's sun, weak and hurt.
"Hey little one" he brought out and stepped aside so they could come in.
Anakin led Ahsoka into the interior of the Twillight and into the cockpit, where he put her on the copilot seat and went back to Rex.
"Where is Obi-Wan?" he asked.
"Uh, the general has gone to meditate, I think. He's been gone for a while," Rex proved.
Anakin sighed and closed his eyes briefly to make sure that the older one actually meditated and did nothing stupid.
But it was the truth.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was meditating.
Again.
"Who did this to the Commander?" Rex asked the question that had been burning on his tongue since he had seen her again.
"A slave owner. But that's not all, unfortunately" the clone's hands clenched into fists.
"What else?"
"He took away her memories. Or rather, manipulated them. She actually believes she is a slave. I don't know how heavy this is Rex, but be careful with her to scare her away is the last thing we need" as a precaution Anakin grabbed Rex's shoulder when he answered the question.
That was good, since Rex could hardly control himself.
"She is afraid of me. To free her I had to... how shall I say ... buy her. She thinks I am her master. In the wrong sense. Can you please talk to her?" the clone looked at the door that separated the cockpit.
He would love to go there now.
Help Ahsoka.
But he knew he couldn't.
"Excuse me, General, but I think she needs you right now. I don't understand much about the Force, but I know she feels safe with you. Meanwhile, I'll find General Kenobi and explain everything to him. Not that he'll take her by surprise," the clone went away.
Anakin stayed.
He stood motionless for a few seconds, then he took a medi-pack and went into the cockpit.
Ahsoka still sat there just like before.
In the past, she would have done something, or at least eavesdropped.
That she didn't do it now gave Anakin a stab in the heart. "Hey Snips" he muttered as he kneeled before her and carefully grabbed her arm.
She flinched back.
In her eyes still fear.
He took her arm and began to disinfect the wounds carefully.
Some were already infected by the hot desert sand.
Ahsoka didn't make a face.
She did not protest.
She just kept looking at him half afraid, half disbelieving.
Of course.
She realized that this was a medi-pack.
And even though she couldn't put it in place, she could sense his concern for her through the force.
No wonder the young Togruta was confused by this.
After all, she did not remember him, nor his, as she so often put it, 'overprotection'.
How much he missed such comments.
