It had taken a while to get all the paperwork done, especially since Ahsoka didn't understand any of it, nor could she read it herself.
Of course, she had to lie the entire time and an explanation as to why she had no ID had not occurred to her either.
To be honest, she was 95% sure that Aech had noticed long ago that she wasn't telling him the truth, but she was incredibly grateful to him for not asking further.
Now the two of them sat back at technical equipment, silently repairing it.
The hustle and bustle outside became less, it seemed to be heading towards evening.
"Where are you sleeping tonight?" asked Aech out of nowhere.
Ahsoka raised her head.
"Where are you staying the night. You didn't look like you were from around here earlier."
Ahsoka lowered her head.
She could sense that he knew exactly why he was asking.
He knew what it was like to belong nowhere.
Was that why he had hired her so spontaneously?
"There wasn't really a spot available here, was there?"
"No. Not really."
"Then why are you helping me."
She heard a short sigh.
"I ran away from home once, too. I didn't want you to end up alone on the street like me."
She nodded slightly. It matched his signature.
"Someone hurt you, didn't they?"
"Yes."
She heard a crackle as he ripped a power cable from the droid to replace it.
"Do you know where you sleep now or not?" he asked again.
"Not really" Ahsoka admitted before tinkering on the motivator.
"You can sleep on the couch with me if you want" Aech mumbled still busy with the power cord.
"That would be nice, thank you." Ahsoka still hadn't gotten the motivator out. She pulled on it all she could.
"Gladly," Aech replied and got up to get the welder.
Ahsoka struggled with the motivator still.
Demotivated, she lowered her hands.
Time to try something else.
She closed her eyes and concentrated.
Slowly, that familiar energy flowed through her body, all the way to her fingertips.
It spread out, flew through her surroundings, and the deeper she sank, the clearer everything became.
Finally, the glowing strands of power reappeared in her nonexistent field of vision, and she felt where the fault was.
A slight movement of her finger was all it took to fix the problem, and the beeping of the droid snapped her out of her concentration.
"Yeah little one, it's okay." she muttered, turning his lens so he could see sharply.
"There. Better?"
The droid beeped in agreement.
"You can sit still for a damn long time." Aech said from the side.
"Huh?" said Ahsoka, confused.
"You haven't moved for almost fifteen minutes. I was getting worried."
"That was just a few seconds."
He shook his head in confusion.
Ahsoka rubbed the back of her neck as she remembered that something like that had happened to her before, both in the trees and on the farm.
Then she pushed the thought aside and continued working.
