"How much is it Sir?" I ask the cab driver.
"Two hundred." He replies and I nod handing him the cash. I get my suitcase and walk towards the huge gates.
After filling in the forms by the gate they usher me in. I walk trailing my suitcase behind me. The front door of the mansion opens. Squinting my eyes I see a middle-aged woman standing sternly at the door. I walk towards her ignoring the way she asses me.
The lady introduces herself and leads me to where I will be staying during weekdays. She gives me a tour of the house and delegates my duties. Once she's done, she orders me to start working.
I walk to what seems like a kitchen hoping to at least make friends here.
"So you are the new maid?" A lady asks me eyeing me.
"Yes, I am," I respond.
"Well, I am Jade, she's Liz and well there are two other maids here Sharon and Helen. I guess you already met Helen." She states and I nod.
"I guess she told you about the maid that got fired. I hope you don't end up like her." Jade says.
"What happened?" I ask familiar with the story.
"Her name was Emma. She fell in love with Theodore, Crawford's older son. She was so obsessed with him that she would sneak into his room while he's sleeping and masturbate while he's asleep." Jade bursts into laughter and I join her.
Some people never cease to amaze me.
"So one day Theo woke up and found Emma her legs wide open fingering herself down there. He fired her and ordered the guards to never let her back here ever again." Jade finishes and we both laugh earning a glare from Liz.
What's her problem?
"You two better get to work before the Crawford's arrive. And Kaylee isn't it?" Liz asks and I turn to her.
"Yes?"
"I don't think you will last long here but please do your job while you still can. I don't want to be yelled at for the mistakes you did." With that, she turns and continues with her work.
"Don't mind her Kaylee. She's just mad at how beautiful you are, plus she's stressed a lot since Theo's girlfriend is coming over to dinner tonight. She has to be perfect or else she will lose her job." Jade explains and nods understanding what Liz must be going through but damn Liz gives me a bad vibe.
"So what's the deal with Theo's girlfriend?" I ask as we go up the stairs.
"I'm shocked you don't know her, she's like a model. Well, she's beautiful but her character kind of makes her damn fucking ugly. She is an ignorant, aggressive, and rude bitch." Jade spats and I laugh at how she described her.
"Well if she's coming tonight, I must see her," I say following Jade into a room to get the dirty laundry.
"If I were you I would stay out of her way before she gets you fired. Mrs. Amelia is very fond of her and would do anything to make her happy." Jade informs and I nod.
"And how is this Theo?" I ask regretting not googling them. I had the urge to look them up but my apartment Wi-Fi connection was very slow I gave up waiting for the contents to load.
"You amaze me, Kaylee. Theo is like the quiet son. He's nice and kind but he's always closed off. I just wish he would find someone to cheer him up. He's always working and when he's not he's out with that witch."
"Careful what you say, Jay, that witch can hear you and you'll end up losing your job you know." A voice says behind us and Jade giggles turning to a breathtaking brunette standing by the door.
"Mia!" Jade squeals happily.
"So who is this?" She asks curiously.
"Kaylee, she's the new maid," Jade says and Mia nods before leaving to take a phone call.
Hours later after meeting Sharon, we set the table since dinner is ready. I go outside to the pool to get some fresh air before the Crawford's arrive for dinner.
I see Mia at the pool her chest heaving like she's crying. I walk over to her and sit beside her taking my black flats off and dipping my legs into the water.
"I thought he loved me you know. He even made my mum proud of me for once. Do you know how my mother can be? She's very self-centered. So when I introduced Matt to her, she was proud of me. I thought I was finally going to be okay. Until someone sent me a video of them fucking. I called him just now and he said he doesn't want me. Now my life is over." She sobs even harder.
"He's a stupid motherfucking cunt, Mia." I cuss and Mia giggles.
"Cunt?" She asks and I nod.
"Yes and your life isn't over, if your mother doesn't like you, then well and fine. I like you. So you have me. Now, let's go have dinner. I am sure you are famished." I say drying my feet and slipping on my shoes.
"Thank you, Kaylee. Let's go." She hugs me and we walk to the house together. She settles at the table with her mum since her other brother, Colin is not coming and her dad is away for business.
Theo arrives with who I presume is Isabella. Theo looks hotter in person than the pictures of him I saw all around the mansion. From his well-sculptured face, blue eyes, and perfectly shaped pink lips. The way his suit fits him just perfectly, I now understand why that Emma would get herself off by just looking at him. He's a work of art.
He greets his mother and sister while Isabella only greets his mother not even sparing Mia a glance, from that I figured the two didn't like each other.
"I came by the pool to talk to you but you were busy." I hear Theo's husky voice and I feel a shiver running down my spine.
"Yes... I don't think you've met Kaylee." Mia says motioning Theo's attention to me. Suddenly the air between us is thick. He walks over to me.
"Kaylee, nice to meet you. Come on, sit with us by the table." Theo orders but I shake my head no.
"Baby, what are you doing inviting a maid to sit with us?" Isabella sneers looking me up and down.
One thing I have mastered from working at diners is to always ignore the negative things people throw at me and this bitch has to do a lot more than that for me to get angry.
"She's my friend. Unlike you she's nice." Mia spats earning a glare from both Mrs. Crawford and Isabella.
"Shut up you, I don't remember asking you anything. Just shut the fuck u-" Isabella is cut off by Theo's voice telling her to get out. I gulp and so does everyone in the room.
"What?" Isabella asks.
"Are you deaf now? I said get out and I never want to see your face ever again. I told you to never speak to my sister like that, still, you did. Take that ring off and leave." Theo says not even turning to look at Isabella, his eyes are on me.
"Son, i-" Mrs. Crawford starts to talk but again Theo cuts her off.
"Enough mother, Isabella out. Leave this house now!" He shouts and I hear Isabella huff and walk out.
"What did you do?" Mrs. Crawford asks and Theo turns her.
"She is disrespectful. I've lost my appetite am going to sleep." Theo states walking out of the dining room.
"You! Get out of my house this minute." Mrs. Crawford orders and I nod.
"You can't fire her." Theo protests.
"Watch me." She says walking over to me.
I raise my hands in surrender, my right hand still holding a tray.
"I quit."
