I roll my eyes as Hanna goes on and on about her trip to Paris.
"... Can you believe I took a picture under the Eifel tower?" She asks grandma who looks like she could strangle her any moment. It was no secret, Hanna never likes his brother's wife. If my theory is right, Hanna didn't like how much her brother had in his account.
Once I'm done with breakfast I excuse myself and head to the office. I let out a breath once I'm inside the room, the quietness calming me instantly. I get down to business, checking my emails, making calls to done PA of the managers concerning the finance reports that grandpa wanted.
One of the branches in Africa needed to be renovated so I had to set up a meeting with the Branch's manager.
It's lunch when Mary calls me to go downstairs. I let out a breath walking down the stairs and into the dining room where everyone is seated and having lunch. I see Hanna has taken my seat and I take a seat on the other side between Connor and Ronald.
"How was your day Kaylee?" Connor asks.
"It was great. As usual." I say.
"I swear I thought we had met before but turns out you were one of Theo's whores. Uncle, this could ruin us!" Connor exclaims dramatically.
I let out a laugh making everyone turn to look at me. This fucker must be stupid thinking my grandparents didn't know the story between me and Theo.
He's stupid alright.
"Took you long enough to bring it up, Connor," I say catching my breath.
"Connor, if you want to stay here. You have to think twice about talking bad about my granddaughter." Grandpa says and Connor nods sending a glare my way. I return it with a sweet smile making him huff.
I finish my food and decide to take a walk in the garden also to make a call from the private detective I sent to find Derek and Sasha.
Sasha and Derrick had disappeared from the surface of this Earth as if she never even existed.
Once I'm done with the call, I head back to the house. I freeze when I hear the three evil minions talking. I hide behind the blue orchids hoping they won't see me.
"Mum, that Kaylee is going to be a problem!" Connor whines and I take out my phone turning it into silent mode. I put on the voice recorder.
"I figured. I don't know what to do with her." Hanna says lighting up a cigarette.
" She cares about her pregnancy. How about we do something with it?" Ronald asks.
" Good thinking. I might get one of the maids to cooperate with us." Hanna says grinning.
" What if that doesn't work?" Connor says running his palm over his face.
" Have some faith in your mother," Hanna says and both men nod.
" Connor, we need some money, the cartel is after us," Hanna says.
" Mother, I gave you money last week. You do know Uncle will find out about the money we take without his permission "
" It will be too late. Get me the fucking money. Or we'll be dead. " Hanna shoots back.
" Let's head back," Ronald says making his way out of the garden followed by his wife. Connor stays behind his phone pressed on his ear. From the conversation, I could tell he was talking to some girl or boy that he had feelings for. The bright smile on his face did tell it all.
" Once I get enough money, I will take you away with me. So far away from where my mother would never find us...I love you too... See you soon." He hangs up the phone. A smile is plastered on his face as he walks out of the garden.
I let out a sigh of relief but it's short-lived when I knock one of the garden scissors accidentally, hitting the ground.
I hear Connor's footsteps heading my way but I'm quicker moving to the opposite direction. I peak out of my new hiding spot to see him standing there looking around. He lets out a sigh before walking out, I wait for a few minutes before I walk out through the back and into the house.
I get into the office, locking the door I sit on one of the couches and pull out my phone hoping that the voice recorder got everything they were saying.
I let out a squeal and do a small victory dance.
Hanna was taking advantage of his brother's kindness. I was excited to meet them but now, I really can't stand them. Family or not, grandpa doesn't deserve that.
Thinking of family, I call Lenny since he's the only one I told what is happening in my life. He was happy when I told him that my grandparents found me. He picks up on the first ring, hearing Winnie giggling in the background brought a smile on my face. Yes, they are a thing now and they moved in together. We talk for a bit telling him about my discovery, hearing him groan and grunt every now was an indication he was angry.
"So what are you going to do?" Lenny asks and I think about it.
"Nothing at the moment. Anyway, I'll call you later." I say.
"Take care of yourself okay?" He says and I nod. I smile when I remember he can't see me.
"I will take care, Lenny. You take care of Winnie, tell her that I miss her chocolate chip cookies." I say and he chuckles mumbling a bye before hanging up.
I place my phone away, turning on my computer to get some work done.
A knock on the door makes me look up from the computer screen. I walk to the door, I unlock it to reveal Melda who is carrying a tray of my evening tea with some yummy-looking cookies. I take the tray from her shaking hands and excuse her.
I take a look at my cup of tea and sigh as I can't take anything from Melda. Her shaking hands and her nervous blinking gave her away. I go back to work before I'm interrupted by none other than Hanna. She eyes the tray that lays there untouched.
"You haven't had your evening tea?" She asks taking a seat in one of the chairs opposite to me.
"I'm craving something else," I say not even bothering looking to look at her as she gives me her usual glares.
"So what do you want?" I ask.
"Nothing. I was just checking up on you." She says standing up and leaving. She gives me a smile before slamming the door shut.
Bitch.
