"Listen to the silence, it's telling the truth."

_ _ _ _________ _ _ _

Letting George lead the way was a terrible idea.

I sighed for the hundredth time as George laughed awkwardly. Everyone woke up motivated and ready for this journey, but the enthusiasm seemed to fade as everyone walked after him with slumped shoulders, grim expressions and heavy feet. We've been walking for something that seemed 6 hours already.

"Oh no!",
George remarked with wide eyes.

"Sorry guys, we've been walking into the wrong direction for 10 minutes, again",
George explained with a fearful expression.

I swear to god-

Judging from his tense shoulders, I could tell that Dream was annoyed, and Nick straight up looked like a wild animal, ready to lunge at George any moment.

I groaned before squeezing through them as I walked towards our genius travel guide.
Snatching the map from him, I let out a scoff before turning towards George.

"You've been holding the map upside down the whole time, stupid.",
I hissed at him before turning the map in my hands.

I ignored the bickering of the three as I focused on our surroundings. My gaze switched from the map to our environment as I tried to figure out our current position..

My eyes widened in realization.

"George!",
I screamed at him in disbelief.

"WE'RE 10 HOURS AWAY FROM THE TOWN!",
I looked at him with wide eyes.

"WHAT?",
Nick and Dream exclaimed with the same disbelief and annoyed expression as me.

"This was supposed to be a 5 hour trip!"

I was beyond angry.

My blood boiled in ager as my vision started to blur. The sudden lust of blood invaded my thoughts as I looked at him, ready to jump at him.

"Don't."

I inhaled deeply as I tried to calm down, listening to the voice. Slowly, the headache started to fade as I cooled down. I opened my eyes while looking at George with a blank face.

"From now on, I'm leading the way, follow me.",
I ordered them with a deadly quiet voice.

They boys stopped fighting as they looked at me. Nick and George looked nervous as they stared at my calm and emotionless face and Dream, well he looked like he always does.

I turned around swiftly as I started to march through the snow, leading the way with the map in my hands.

An awkward silence surrounded us as they walked after me quietly.

"Dude, I think she's angry.",
Nick whispered to someone, thinking that I didn't hear him.

"My back is not a voicemail. If you've got anything to say, say it to my face.",
I snapped loud enough for them to hear as I sent them a brief glare.

He shut up as he looked at me like he was caught stealing cookies.

Sighing, I turned around again as I lead the way.

People like this are the reason why I'm on medication.

____

We've been walking for like three hours already, and we were still nowhere near the town we were supposed to reach.

My legs started to hurt from the walking and the sun started setting.

Great, just great.

I stopped walking as I looked at the boys behind me. They looked as bored and as exhausted as I was.

"Let's call it a day and set up a camp for the night.",
I suggested with a tired and hoarse voice.

"Ah yes, finally.",
Nick breathed out happily as he fell into a sitting position with a loud thump.

George let go of his backpack as he pulled out the things for our camp. After thrity tiring minutes of setting up tents and searching firewood, we finally sat down.

I sighed in relief as I was finally able to rest.

"I'm taking the first shift of watching out.",
George volunteered while scratching the base of his neck nervously, probably still flustered from what had occured three hours ago.

We nodded in approval before everyone laid down in their sleeping bags infront of the camp fire. Letting out a content sigh, I closed my eyes.

The tiring hike caught up on me as I was consumed by sleep almost immediately.

____

"Pssst, Eleanor."

"El"

Nicks careful voice interrupted my sleep as he shook me awake gently, making sure he didn't wake up the others.

My eyes fluttered open and my brows furrowed.

"It's you shift."

I want to sleep.

I sat up nonthless as Nick handed me Dreams crossbow. I grabbed the heavy weapon sloppily as I stood up.

Nick went back to his sleeping bag, and an eerie silence engulfed us as I looked around with careful eyes.

The fire crackled behind me and the sounds of insects infront of me kept me awake as I listened to them calmly. The nightsky was filled with stars and the moon shone onto us proudly.

I let out a content sigh before I relaxed a bit.

"Keep your guard up."

My shoulders tensed as I opened my eyes, realizing that I almost fell asleep.

Shame washed over me as I looked at the boys.

At the moment, I carried the responsibility of keeping them safe, and I almost just fell asleep.

My train of thoughts and guilt was interrupted when I heard a twig breaking to my left. I looked at the forest warily as I held up the crossbow, only to realize that I didn't know how to use it.

I threw the weapon into the snow before taking out a knive.

Should I?

I debated in my head wether I should check for any dangers or not.

I let out a determinded exhale before I started taking cautious steps towards the noise. My heartbeat quickened when I heard some weird noises. I pushed the bushes aside and ducked down whenever a branch came across my way.

It was dark, and I barely could see anything.

Goose bumps raised on my skin and my neck hair stood up in fear at the very loud groans and noises of the big horde infront of me.

I started to breath faster as panik and fear struck my whole figure, making me go completely still.

"The camp."

I didn't move as I watched the big group, of something that looked like around 100 zombie,  walk into my direction with big eyes.

"GO THE CAMP AND GET THE BOYS!"

The voice finally broke me out of my trance as I looked around hectically, feeling lost.
My body shivered in fear as I searched for a way back to the camp, and when I finally realized what direction I just came from, I broke into the fastest sprint I've ever run.
