"Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path."

_ _ _ __________ _ _ _

My feet pounded against the floor as I ran with the moonlight illuminating my path.

I could feel my heart pounding in my head and stomach churn.

If I slip once...

Shaking my head, I looked back to see zombies behind me, still hot on my trail as I jumped from one roof to another.

Adrenaline ran through my system, yet I could feel my breath get taken away as I slowed down.

Something graced against my shoulder, making me look back one last tine, I saw death knock at my front door.

And then, I stumbled.

My skin burned from the impact and friction and ankle my snapped before an agony filled scream escaped my lungs.

I briefly glanced at the swollen limb before looking up again. Dread filled my eyes and fear left me shaking as the predators now jumped down the roof before they now slowly approached my figure.

"Dream."

The faint whisper made my head whip up before I looked behind, witnessing George as he opened a big metal door for me with his head facing the floor and hair casting shadow over it.

"Come here."

I ignored the numbing pain in my feet while I scrambled up to run as my life depended on it.

I could feel cold sweat run down my back.

The door was so near yet it seemed like I couldn't reach it.

Slowly, George raised his head, causing my heartbeat to stop.

His skin was sickly black and slimy and tar ran down his eyes, looking like tears. There was no sign of colour in his eyes and the lower half of his face was torn, allowing me to see raw and rotten flesh.

And then he raised his hand to slowly close the door again.

NO-

Tears rushed down my face as I watched the door slowly close before my eyes.

"GEORGE, DON'T!"

I barely managed to let the words out as I reached out. My heartbeat picked up with every metre that I came closer to the door.

However, the pain in my ankle suddenly worsened, catching me off guard and making me stumble as I lost my balance in the progress.

And there I laid one metre away from the door with my hand still stuck out for George to grab and pull me into safety.

But nothing happened as the zombies behind me jumped upon me, biting into my body parts as they tore away big chunks of flesh.

My eyes were wide as I watched the little smirk strech on his chapped lips and the mischiev that twinkled in his eyes before his face turned all dull and lifeless again.

And then, he finally said the word that I had been trying to deny the past few days.

"You let me die, Clay."

I quickly shook my head as sobs left my mouth. More and more zombies piled ontop of me, making it hard to breath.

"You killed me."

Slowly, his figure turned into my own face as I watched myself die with the most evil face filled with pure joy.

"Suffer the same way I did."

I felt like my body was being controlled by another being when my head whipped to the left to stare at a window of an abandoned shop, my reflection, or more like George's reflection now staring back at me as it was being torn apart and eaten up.

A loud gasp escaped my mouth before I rose from the white bed. My heartbeat accelerated with every second as I looked around, only to find out that I was still inside the laboratoire, on one of the few beds and definetly not outside.

Letting out an relieved exhale, Dream sunk back onto the bed as he calmed down.

His chest still heaved up and down heavily when he picked up the faint noise of someone moving around.

He tried to be subtle when he tilted his head to witness Eleanor as she slowly moved through the sleeping bodies of everyone else.

Where is she going?

Slowly, Dream moved the covers from himself as he stood up the moment Eleanor was out of sight as he now tip toed behind her.

He followed her through corridors he had never seen before until she halted infront of a door as she now streched out her hand to grab the handle.

"What are you doing?"

Eleanor froze in her place before her head whipped into his direction.

"What are you doing here?"

Her voice cracked at the end of the question as she watched him while he slowly approached her trembling figure.

"What are you hiding, Eleanor?"

"N-Nothing."

She was still lying to him.

Dream could feel anger clouding his senses and red dot his vision.

"Tell me the truth."

Dream could feel desperation overcome his body as he was still shaken up from his nightmare.

He knew he wasn't acting rationally, but he couldn't care less at the moment.

Eleanor's eyes hardened as she realized that he wouldn't budge easily today.

"I can't tell you."

And again, Dream felt his chest tighten.

Nick had become distant since George's death and Eleanor was keeping secrets from.

He felt like he was being pushed away and neglected.

He felt alone.

Silence hung in the air as the individuals stared at each other with fire in their eyes.

"Of course you can."

"No I can't!"

"THEN TELL ME, WHY CAN'T YOU?"

Their voices raised as they screamed at each other back and forth.

Both were trying to protect the other, yet they couldn't help but feel like they were failing miserably.

In the end, Dream let out a sarcastic laugh.

"You know I'm just trying to protect and help you. I know that something's happening right now and I can't risk loosing another person."

For a second, Eleanor's eyes softened before she shut them tightly, trying to keep it together before she let out her final words.

"I never asked for your help."

The words were like stabs to his heart and Dream just wanted to break down and cry.

It was moments like theese when he was grateful he always wore a mask.

"I guess from today on I'll leave you alone then."

And then he turned around and walked away, never looking back even once, not knowing how much he would regret his actions later on.
