Something about Alfred was different today.
Very different.
Eleanor was used to his intrusive and -in her opinion- displeasing behavior. It felt nearly unreal when she walked through the automatic glass doors only to find him quiet and deep in thought.
There were a few wrinkles on his forehead from thinking too hard and he didn't show any kind of reaction even after he glanced at her to acknowledge her presence, followed by a curt nod.
Honestly, he looked wrecked and awful.
For a mere second, she felt empathy but she was quick to shake those feelings away, refusing to feel empathy for such a cruel human being.
Considering the fact that he was also part of the human species after all.She lazily sat down on the chair in front of him before she boredly stared at his hunched over figure, debating wether she should apprach him first or not.
"Hello?"
His eyebags and dark rings were even more prominent up close.
His eyes were fixicated on her figure with a sharp glare the moment they landed on her.
She immediately started to feel small in her seat and extremely uncomfortable to make it even worse.
Then he whispererd a single sentence, his now very hoarse voice starleting her.
"Who are you really, Eleanor Soot."
Confiusion made her brows furrow as she stared at him like he was crazy - which he kinda actually was on a side note.
"What did Saphira not tell us?"
He talked to himself as he stood up to grab an empty syringe.
Eleanor cringed at the pain she felt when he drew her blood before he carefully stored the blood in a fridge.
She could feel her skin crawl in anxiety when he turned on the camera, meaning that she could brace herself for yet another painful session of torture.
Alfred suddenly froze in his movement before he whipped his head into her direction to stare at her with raised brows.
"Go to the table."
With a thumping heart and heavy legs she slowly made her way to lay down, feeling nauseous already.
He started talking again.
"Last time, the test object showed interesting reactions to the virus. Temporary changes in her appearance were the most prominant."
He grabbed a syringe filled with a black, tar like liquid before he approached her again.
"We're going to watch how the body will react if I inject it without anesthesizing her whole body beforehand."
Wait what-
And yet again, she watched the needle disappear within her skin before Alfred pressed down.
Mortified, she watched the way her veins blackened all the way up to her neck as her muscles started to tense painfully.
A muffled groan escaped her lips as she tried to keep quiet.
An unbearable headache made her feel like she was burning and her heart beat like she just ran a marathon.
Her vision blurred before she let out an animalistic scream, tears now running down her eyes as she felt scared to death.
What is happening to me?
Her stomach grumbled before her head whipped to Alfred, hunger rising within her.
She screamed again, her voice however was as hoarse and deep as one of the monster's that you found wandering around through the streets nowadays.
She was already thrashing around, wanting to get free and tear Alfred's flesh apart.
Too many emotions overcame her body at once and she arched her back into an inhuman angle, a strangled wheeze leaving her throat before she collapsed, looking dead with her eyes now closed and blood running down her nose.
Alfred was horrified.
It was the first time he saw such a demonic sight. Carefully, he approached the table to quickly take another sample of her blood for further investigations later on.
Turning around, he took a deep breath before he spoke up again.
"Wake up."
And her eyes opened.
Was it really her eyes tho?
There was an unfamilliar glint in her eyes when she turned her had to lay down straight and look at the ceiling, a smirk slowly creeping it's way onto her face to expose her slightly sharpened teeth.
"Finally."
A chuckle left it's mouth.
The room was pin drop silent as the individuals now stared at each other, oblivious to the other two pairs of eyes that just witnessed everything.
Everything from the very start till the very end.
