"People come and go. That's life."

"What have you done?"

Shoving me into the wall once again, he turned around and clutched his head before releasing a groan.

I looked at him, too stunned to say a word. I watched as he walked around in round cycles, thinking about what to do next. It took all my courage to say the next few words.

"I-I'm sorry.",
the words came out as a whisper, but he managed to hear them anyways.

"I'm SORRY?",
he halted before looking at me again, the mask and psych smile dancing on his lips scaring me.

"I'm sorry won't fix anything.",
he spat at me harshly before releasing a scoff of disbelief.

"The least you can do now is help me find the others. Even if it means you have to die by doing so.",
his face was set onto my weak and trembling figure.

I looked at the ground, too ashamed to even say a single word. He turned around again, leaned his crossbow against a wall and sat down next to it.

Seconds of suffocating silence made the athmosphere thick with tension as the both of us thought about what to do next. Suddenly, Dream stood up abruptly as he swung his crossbow over his shoulder, exiting the cave.

"Where are you going?",
I asked him worriedly.

I was afraid since I didn't want to be alone. I barely knew how to fight, let alone survive an apocalypse alone.

"I'm getting some firewood.",
he replied fast.

"What if-"

"Stab them into the head,  that's the only way to kill them.",
he didn't even let me reply, knowing what questions and and thoughts ran through my head.

I let out a frustrated sigh after he left me all alone. Grabbing a knive, I held it infront of me steadily before sitting down and watching the entrance of the cave with trembling hands.

It was around midnight and the temperatures were freezing cold. I shivered and my teeth chattered while I waited for him. I waited and waited, and without me knowing, exhaustion took over me.

The knive fell out of my grip and my stiff body relaxed as I fell into a deep slumber.

I didn't know when I fell asleep, but I woke up to the sunshine shining onto me, making me feel a bit warmer than before. I groaned groggily before I opened my eyes and adjusted to the light. Looking around, I found myself alone.

I started panicking as I stood up hastily.

"Dream?",
I looked around with hopeful eyes.

Walking out of the cave, I searched for him.

"Dream!",
I screamed his name in hope of getting any type of reply, but I was met with silence. Tears coated my eyes again as I screamed his on repeat.

"DREAM!",
I shouted his name for a last time before I crumpeld down. The snow srunched beneath me as I trembled.
The temperature around me seemed to drop as I weeped to myself.

I looked at the forest with longing eyes before closing them and rocking myself back and forth. A little yell escaped my mouth when a warm hand was placed on my shoulder.

"Dream!",
I turned around with the biggest smile, that soon turned into horror. Behind me wasn't Dream, it was a zombie.

I screamed as it lunged at me and knocked us over. Wild yells and pleads escaped my mouth as I tried to get away from my ugly fate. I thrashed aroung with my free legs as I held it away as much as possible.

One last tear escaped my eyes before the monster bent down and sunk it's teeth into my skin as it ripped away a piece of my flesh.

"CLEMENTINE!"

An ugly yelp escaped my throat as I woke up again, this time however in Dreams arms. A campfire on our right lit the cave and provided us with warmth. I looked back at Dream with red and bloodshot eyes, my throat raw from crying.

"It's okay Clamentine. You're fine. I'm here.",
the comforting words made me feel better as I leaned into him, thankful to feel his warmth.

"Dream.",
the word escaped my throat painfully as I looked up at him again.

"I'm so sorry.",
I choked out inbetween heavy breaths as I cried into his shoulder with agony.

He sucked in a harsh breath before replying.

"It's fine."

"No it's not.",
I cut him off immediately.

"It's not fine and we both know it.",
I breathed out, feeling guilty.

"Clementine-"

"Eleanor.",
I let go of him before backing off.

"I lied. My real name's Eleanor, El for short."

He gave me an understanding smile.

"Eleanor, we're going to find them and everything is going to be fine.  I promise.",
he gave me a little smile before he sat down properly again.

We listened to the night and it's natural sounds. The insects singing and droplets of melting snow around us. The sounds filled my ear and made me relax and feel comfortable.

I leaned into the warmth of the little campfire infront of me before falling asleep again, this time peacefully, and it was safe to say I had a good sleep.
