kuroo reading with you is a very important and necessary form of quality time. at one point, you both agreed to read at least thirty pages together every night. he usually prefers to read to you but he finds that it can be difficult when you get distracted easily. sometimes you'll try get handsy with him and he'll try to resist as much as possible because he wants to follow through on this with you. "babe, we can have some fun later, okay? we agreed that we were going to do this." you start taking turns to read and you were a little shy to read in front of him. you liked listening to his voice more than your own. fortunately, your very patient and encouraging boyfriend sits behind you and holds you tight until you're ready to start.

akaashi breaks your habit of listening to audiobooks real quick when he starts reading to you. he's a very traditional person and likes to own physical copies of books so there's a variety to choose from. it becomes an enjoyable pastime for you both except that it puts you to sleep so easily. you feel so relaxed and comfy when you hear his soft voice read to you as you lean your head on his shoulder, trying to follow along with him. if you do nod off completely, it never bothers him because he knows you don't do it on purpose. sometimes you feel bad about it so you tell him to stop reading or to wake you up. however, he almost never follows through with that and hears about it when you wake up. "i'm sorry, baby. you just look so peaceful. do you want to read to me instead?"

bokuto does not read a lot on his own so having you there as a form of accountability makes it a little easier. he really gets into adventure or fantasy books like harry potter or lord of the rings. the fact that those series usually have movie adaptations get him more motivated to read the books. even when he watches the movies, he'll affirm that the books are always better. if a book ever becomes sad, like when a character dies, he definitely gets upset about it. that's another reason why he likes to have you there because he can cry in peace as you comfort him. you love that he's interested in the story and not just letting it go through one ear and out the other. he loves that you spend the time with him this way and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

kageyama is also not a huge fan of reading as a form of leisure. however, he feels that he could learn a thing or two from you. sometimes there are words that he doesn't recognize or are hard to read so he'll ask you to help him. once he hears you read it to him, he's hooked to hear more. if you could read all his textbooks to him, he might like school more. he'll hear you read anything to him but his favorites are non-fiction books, especially true stories about athletes who overcame odds and worked to continue their career. it makes him feel inspired to work hard to be the best setter in the world. he also feels very grateful that you're willing to read to him. one time you went out on a limb and got him a book as a gift and the first thing he said, "will you read it to me?"
