top haikyuu characters + vacation vibes

featuring: kuroo, kenma, kageyama, nishinoya, bokuto, akaashi, oikawa, tendo, kita, and atsumu

these are the top 10 characters as voted for by you all in the interest poll that i conducted last month, listed in no particular order. just got back from vacation and who would've thought inspiration would strike? enjoy!

kuroo -> long car rides: he loves these kinds of trips that involve a good few hours of car travel because it's like the pre-trip. it's uninterrupted time with you, plus you have a whole actual trip to spend together. he finds it endearing that you trust him enough to be able to doze off and fall asleep while he drives. he also just thinks you look really cute curled up in the seat while wearing one of his old team jackets.

kenma -> going to the beach: the outdoors are not his thing but he can stand the beach as long as there's chairs and an umbrella. he'll get in the water with you exactly one time before retreating back to play a game on his handheld console while you tan or read a book. he finds the sound of the waves really relaxing as he plays. once he gets bored with the game, he'll be up for a sandcastle building contest with you.

kageyama -> sharing a bed: he's shared a bed with you before but he likes to have some extra space for the both of you. every room you've ever shared together has included at least a queen size bed except once when it was two twin beds. he thought he would be fine with it until it came time to sleep and he didn't like that you were so far away. he pushed his bed right up against yours and even though it was a tight fit, he was happier sleeping right beside you.

nishinoya -> getting a sunburn: he'll argue with you about how sunscreen doesn't really do anything but will agree to wear it just to prove a point. however, he never passes up an opportunity to help you with putting on sunscreen. whines and complains when he inevitably gets burnt but is more sympathetic towards you when you get a mean burn as well. at least now you can indulge in some aloe and cool showers together.

bokuto -> playing mini-golf: his competitive side is fully on when it comes to mini-golf. he's always looking to redeem himself from the very first time you played together and he thought that having the most points was a win. he tried to do crazy trick shots at the challenging holes but it's evident that he shouldn't quit his day job just yet. every now and then he'll get a hole in one and you'll tease him with the 'even a blind squirrel finds a nut' saying. if you beat him, he will be a little pouty which can only be cured with your reassuring hugs and kisses.

akaashi -> getting lots of ice cream: whether it's ice cream or some other sweet treat, he makes sure that you're getting it every night that you're on vacation together. maybe it's not the healthiest choice ever but he's a firm believer in indulgence, especially when on vacation. sometimes you'll try different flavors and try the other's choice, deciding which one is better. he enjoys kissing you after eating ice cream and probably looks forward to that more than the actual treat.

oikawa -> walking on the boardwalk: if you're not a fan of large groups of people, he'll be sure to keep you close with his hand in yours or with his arm around your shoulder. you like to go just before the sun goes down so you can take cute couples pictures in front of the beach and watch the sunset a little. unfortunately, the weather isn't always perfect for such an activity as one time you got caught in a huge thunderstorm and were completely soaked until you found refuge in a candy shop, which he claimed was the only place still open.

tendo -> going to a waterpark: he really loves fun yet somewhat childish pastimes with you because of the carefree nature that they bring. while you're not *that* couple waiting in lines for waterslides, he still likes to subtly make it known that you're together. he'll lean his elbow on top of your head if you're shorter than him or will just lean against your shoulder. he also likes to link your pinkies together and lightly swing your hands back and forth. however, the small displays of affection are over once you've both taken your positions to race down one of the slides.

kita -> ignoring calls from work: of course on your first day of well-deserved vacation, you're getting calls and texts from work. it can be hard for you to resist responding, especially when you've missed the notifications. but your previous promise to him trumps everything else because when you're spending time with him, that's the only thing that matters. after that, your phone stays on do not disturb so you can enjoy the memories and experience that you're about to share with the love of your life.

atsumu -> going out to eat: he's always ready to eat at a restaurant with you that's not owned by his brother. it's his favorite part of vacations because it feels like date night every night and one more chance to treat you. of course, there's always a discussion about who's paying and while he insists on it every time, there's a compromise to let you pay for some of his meals too. he likes to go out early to eat, not only to beat the wait times but also to have more time to do something fun or romantic with you, like a walk along the beach as the sun sets or go to a secluded lookout point to watch the stars.
