when they go to a haunted house with their s/o

this was one of the seasonal writing ideas with some of the top haikyuu characters in the animanga poll right now and there's still time to submit your response! if you haven't voted yet (please do), hopefully these are some of your favs...enjoy. x

kuroo is very excited to visit a haunted house with you. if you're someone who gets scared easily, he'll promise to hold your hand the entire time and that he won't let anything get you. even if you deny that you won't get scared, he's right there beside you as you grip his hand tightly. he enjoys the attention he gets from you being scared, especially when something jumps out and makes you hide your face into his shoulder or chest. he holds onto you tightly, getting a little scared himself as you continue to make your way through and to the exit. he admits that he got pretty scared, continuing to hold you close as he confirms that you're not too spooked. he tucks you under his arm and leads you to a stand where he buys you some hot chocolate before you call it a night.

akaashi is more of a simple pumpkin patch type of person but if you wanted to go, he'd do it for you. he'd try to brave through it but every part of his senses was being stimulated between the flickering lights, loud door slams, and creepy laughs, and people dressed up just staring at you. you notice that he's more than scared by how stiff and tense he is, his body shuddering behind you. you hold his hand tightly, telling him to close his eyes before quickly leading him out of the exit. he still looks terrified even though you're out of the house, making you ask if he needs a hug. he immediately accepts, taking a few deep breaths to calm down as he hugs you tightly, drinking your warmth. before he can apologize for anything, you remind him that you still need a pumpkin for your place, making him return your grin.

bokuto makes his intentions very clear by saying, "don't worry, babe. i'll protect you." he then proceeds to get scared by every small sound and sight throughout the duration of the visit. between fight or flight, he'd choose to try to fight every time, which in some cases, gets him into trouble. he has accidentally hit or kicked one of the actors or knocked over some props due to his 'self-defense' techniques. after a lot of apologizing or fixing whatever he messed up, you finally make it to the exit and he immediately knows that you're less than pleased. he begins apologizing for his actions, putting on his pouty face in hopes that you'll forgive him. you can't stay upset with him, patting his head before telling him that you'll do the protecting next time. he agrees and makes up for it by buying your favorite fall treat for you.

sugawara gets spooked here and there but instead of being completely terrified, he just laughs it off. it makes him seem off, somewhat like a sociopath, but it's also comforting in a weird way. you know he really just wants to have fun and make the most of every moment so you don't mind it at all. his laugh is contagious and sometimes you'll find yourself laughing along with him. he seems to enjoy real-life experiences like this to sitting and watching a scary movie with the exception of the cuddles he gets from you while watching them. if you think about it, the only time that you've ever seen him truly scared was whenever daichi would be super nice for no reason, it's like a threat to him.

osamu acts almost too casually while walking through a haunted house. he walks through it as if he were in an art museum, just looking around at all the paintings or in this case, the people who're trying to pop out and scare you. he almost doesn't understand the concept of a haunted house like he'll ask why it's so loud and dark and whatnot. you're just pulling him through at this point as he looks around as if he were doing a walkthrough of a house that you two were looking to buy. once you go out the exit, you ask him if he had fun and he's like, "yeah, but it was kinda scary." you're left dumbfounded, saying that he didn't look scared at all. you joked that you're dating a psychopath but then you think that not knowing when he would get to eat next would really scare him.

iwaizumi doesn't really like anything scary but he says it's because manufactured scares are always 'corny.' however, he seems to have severely underestimated this year's setup as he could literally feel the adrenaline running through him while anticipating what was next to come. he's surprised that you're the one leading, which he finds a little emasculating, lightly tugging you back beside him. you ask him if he's scared and he's still trying to deny it, "n-no, you just walk too slow." then suddenly, a demon-like creature pops out from around the corner, completely catching him off guard and making him yell loudly. he clings onto you, nearly knocking you over, hiding his face into your shoulder. you pat his back comfortingly before leading him out the exit where he continues to deny anything you saw of him in the house.
