"So this is really happening?" Sungchan asked as the members of the two former gangs slowly began to introduce themselves to one another.
"Apparently so." She murmured in response as a boy walked up to them.
The handsome boy approached the pair, a cold look on his face as he stared them down, none of them moving or speaking. After a tense moment, the older boy broke into a smile.
"Come on, don't be a stranger." The boy said with a deep laugh, ruffling their hair.
"Ugh, Jaehyun, don't be weird." Sungchan groaned out, shoving the older boy away.
"Oh come on, that's no way to treat your brother, now is it." Jaehyun huffed, pulling the younger boy into a side hug.
"Whatever, it's nice to see you Jae." Sungchan said with a smile.
"Nice to see you too, little bro." He said, looking his younger brother up and down. "You've gotten stronger."
"All thanks to training with Minji." Sungchan replied, nudging her shoulders.
"Who ever thought that little Minji would grow up to be an ace." Jaehyun said while shaking his head at her in amazement. "You look good kid, how've you been?" He asked, pulling her in for a hug.
"Pretty good." She said, giving him a squeeze.
"Woah ok calm down there mini hulk." He said jokingly as he let her go. "I don't know if I can call you kid anymore with those muscles."
"Oh stop." She said jokingly. "It's good to see you again, Jae, it's been, what, 5 years?"
"Yeah, wow, you guys were just 14 year old babies back then, huh." He said with a smile. "Back when you stole my little brother from our gang." He added with a playful shove.
"Excuse me, I did no such thing, not my fault our gang is, or was, just better." She scoffed out, shoving him back. "But now we're all back together again. Congrats on being selected for the council."
"Thanks, little Ace. As the second in command of CT, I'd be pissed if I wasn't. Still a little pressed that Kun stepped down as leader but he'll do us good on the council." Jaehyun said with a nod. "She keeping you in line, Sungie?" He asked, turning back to his brother.
"Trying to." Sungchan replied while rolling his eyes.
"That's what we like to hear. Get a few extra punches in there for me, will you Minji?" He said to the girl, wiggling his eyebrows at her.
"Oh hell no. Do not make me endure that." Sungchan said with a shiver. "Her punches feel like your getting hit by bricks."
"What? Little Minji? It can't be that bad." Jaehyun scoffed out, causing her to raise her eyebrows curiously.
"You wanna catch these hands?" She said, balling up a fist.
"I'd like to see you try and hit me." The older boy sneered back.
"You're in for it now bro, good luck." Sungchan said, backing away from the pair as they smirked at one another.
They playfully ran at one another, swinging lightly and dodging quickly in an over dramatic rendition of a fight scene. She laughed as Jaehyun lunged at her, grabbing her legs and slinging her over his shoulder, spinning in circles with a smile on his face.
Hearing her squeals, some of her members nearby rose to their feet and ran over. Just as Jaehyun put her down, the two of them laughing together, Johnny walked over and grabbed Jaehyun's collar, shoving him away from her angrily, Mark and Lucas also running over.
"What do you think you're doing, hmm? Coming here and picking fights with our girl? Hmm? That doesn't fly here." Johnny said angrily, growling at the other boy.
"Woah, chill man." Jaehyun said with a chuckle as Johnny tightened his grip on his collar.
"You think this is funny? I should teach you a lesson about messing with one of us." Johnny continued as Winwin and Hendery also walked up, both boys bristling with anger.
"Woah woah woah, Johnny stop." Minji said, quickly prying the older boy off of Jaehyun and standing between the two of them. "He wasn't attacking me."
"Then what the hell was that?" Johnny huffed out.
"We were just messing around." Minji said with a chuckle, turning around to check up on Jaehyun with a nod. "Jaehyun's cool."
"You two know each other?"
"He's actually my older brother." Sungchan said, jumping into the conversation as he went to stand beside Minji. "And they've known each other for over 13 years."
"I see. Uh, sorry man." Johnny called out to Jaehyun with an apologetic nod. "I didn't realize."
"Don't sweat it. Good to know this gang will stick up for one another." Jaehyun replied with a smile as Johnny turned to walked away. "Damn, you really got some watch dogs around you, Minji." He added as the other boys all walked away and went back to their seats.
"Being the only girl in the family tends to do that I guess." She shrugged. "Even though I could probably kick all of their asses."
"She's not wrong." Sungchan added. "We're all pretty protective over her."
"Well you've been protective over her since you guys were, like, three years old." Jaehyun said with a sigh.
"And that's why we're besties!" She said, hugging the tall boy happily.
"Oh dear god, I'm going to have to endure more of you two being idiots together, aren't I?" The older boy groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Yup." She said with a smile. "All day."
"Everyday." Sungchan finished.
The pair high fived as the three of them went to sit in the grass together, talking and laughing quietly.
