Chapter 11 | "a good chase"

"Ah, Minji, there you are." Taeyong said as she walked into the house with Sungchan. "We've been waiting for you, everything okay at school?"

"Yeah, school was fine. What's up?"

"We have some things to discuss, come to my office."

"See you later." Sungchan mumbled, grabbing her backpack off her shoulder and walking away with a smile.

She nodded to the boy before following Taeyong up the stairs and into his office. She took a seat at the round table, sitting between Jaehyun and Johnny. Kun, Mark, Doyoung, and Haechan were also present.

"Great, now that everyone is here, we need to figure out who is targeting us. Doyoung?" Taeyong nodded to the other boy.

Doyoung clicked a button as a projector turned on, shining some photos onto the board as the boy went to stand next to it.

"Here's all we know so far," he said, clearing his throat. "Haechan was attacked on a mission targeting a small gang in Busan two days before Minji was attacked here in Seoul. As far as we know, these two instances occurred at the warehouses of small, unrelated gangs. The symbol on their necks," he changed the slide to display a photo of her brand. "Is of this serpent."

"Is it a gang logo?" Johnny asked, interrupting the boy.

"We thought that was a possibility, so Mark had Chenle and Jisung search for any gangs with this symbol but nothing came up. They also searched for any gang names relating to snakes or serpents but found none. They even hacked into the government criminal databases but found nothing." Doyoung said with a sigh. "So we're open to any ideas."

"Maybe it's supposed to be something relating to reptiles?" Mark suggested.

"Or venom?" Jaehyun added.

"Maybe it's more metaphorical, snakes are often sneaky or backstabbing. Perhaps an enemy of ours who feels wronged by both of us?" Kun asked.

The boys all continued to throw out suggestions, Doyoung writing them all down and quickly sending them to the hackers to begin searching.

Minji stared closely at the image, she knew they were missing something. Despite hearing the suggestions, all of which were very plausible, she still felt like something was off. As the boys continued to discuss, she silently rose from her seat and approached the board, taking a closer look at the image.

Her eyes widened as she noticed the little details of the brand, turning to face the boys who were all still brainstorming suggestions.

"Maybe it's something like Medusa because of her-"

"I know who it is."

All eyes turned to look at her, the voices instantly dying down.

"Stray Kids."

"What? Stray Kids? As in... the JYP gang?" Taeyong asked.

"Yeah exactly." She replied, taking a seat.

"Why do you think that?" Kun asked, intrigued.

"Doyoung, can you zoom in on the image." The older boy did as he was asked. "If you look at the shape of the snake, it's strange. That was the first thing that ticked me off. As I looked at it more, it's shaped just like a cursive S. Zoom in a bit more Doyoung."

He zoomed in close, so that they could see the details on the snake's body and face.

"Look at the way the scales are cut. They're in the shape of a "K" and if you look at the tongue, there's a "Z" cut into it. S-K-Z. Stray Kids." She said with a smile, seeing the boys nod their heads.
