Chapter 40 | "your chance"

"Minji?" Sungchan asked, seeing the pure rage on her face as she stared at the man in front of them, her muscles shaking with tension.

"This is all your fault!" She yelled. "You're the one who did this to me, you ruined everything for me!"

"Oh relax, sweetheart, don't need to get all worked up over nothing, now do we." The man taunted, a laugh leaving his lips only enraging her further.

"What more do you want with me, haven't you done enough?" She yelled, her voice breaking.

"It'll never be enough. Not until you are mine." The man growled lowly.

She was about to respond but was interrupted by the sound of a door slamming open and footsteps quickly making their way towards them from behind.

"I should've known not to give them their freedom yet. Traitors." The man in the center spat under his breath.

Minji snd Sungchan spun around as the footsteps drew closer, the two of them seeing Taeyong run into the room.

"Minji? Sungchan? Are you guys alright?" He asked, his eyes full of panic.

"For now yes." Sungchan replied. "What's going on?"

"Chan and Felix told me everything, this is a setup." Taeyong said quickly. "We need to get out of here before they arrive."

"Too late." Minji said with a wince, seeing Taeyong freeze before peering over her shoulder.

She watched as his face contorted into anger as his eyes landed on the man in the center.

"Jinyoung." He spat, stepping in front of Sungchan and Minji to face the man.

"Hello, Taeyong, miss me?"

"I should've known you were behind this." Taeyong growled lowly, his eyes narrowing as he clutched onto the gun in his hand. "You two, get out of here."

"No I think they're going to stay right where they are." Jinyoung said, snapping his fingers as three men emerged from behind him, each one of them pointing a gun at the three of them. "It seems as though you've forgotten something, Minji. I always get what I want. You missed your chance to join us peacefully, so it looks like I'll just have to take care of your little gang myself. Starting with you."

Minji's eyes widened as Jinyoung drew his gun and pointed it directly at Sungchan.

"No, please-!"

She was cut off by the loud bang of a gun, the dull thump of a body collapsing on the floor following it.

Minji quickly turned to see Haechan standing in the entrance to one of the tunnels, his gun pointed at where Jinyoung had just been standing. Soon three more shots rung out, Jaehyun and Johnny emerging from behind him and shooting the other three men.

"Thank god." Taeyong breathed out.

Minji couldn't even stop herself, the moment the men fell to the ground, she ran over to them, throwing herself onto Haechan. He gasped as she wrapped her arms around him, pushing her up into a tight embrace.

"Haechan!" She squealed, squeezing him impossibly tighter.

"Woah, Minji, are you alright?" He asked with a chuckle, setting her down in front of him.
