"Haejoon says 'thank you'" Haechan said as he walked into her room later that night. "Sorry it took me so long to come and visit, I was at the hospital with my family."
Are they okay?
"Right, you can't speak." He mumbled as he read her note. "Yeah, a bit shaken up but all safe and sound, thanks to you."
Thank goodness.
"Yeah, Haejoon kinda thinks your a superhero now." The two of them laughed together, an amused grin on Minji's face. "But seriously, thank you for saving him. I don't know what I would've done if I lost him."
Thank you too.
"Me? Why me?" He asked, perplexed.
For saving me, right?
"Oh, yeah right." He said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "It was crazy but I'm really glad you're okay."
How did you do it? I thought I was totally trapped.
"I mean you kinda were." He mumbled. "But there's a trapdoor by the entrance that leads outside. The wood was all burning but it was solid enough that I was able to come and grab you before the house collapsed."
She nodded as she listened to his story, eyes wide.
"Speaking of which, you idiot, if I hadn't come save you, the house would've fallen on you. You could've died!"
She cocked an eyebrow at him, a smirk on her face as she stared at him. As he met her gaze, his cheeks started to heat up in a flustered blush.
"N-not that I would've cared.... you're still an annoying brat and it would've made my life a hell of a lot easier." He said quickly, trying to cover up for his words but she saw right through it.
She continued to smirk at him, nodding her head unconvincingly.
"Okay fine. Yes I would've cared if you died! I was worried sick about you, I couldn't just leave you there to burn. God, I've been a wreck waiting for you to wake up, I thought I was too late! I would've.... I... I-" he paused, reading what she had written.
I'm glad you saved me. I would've missed you too.
He smiled at her, letting out a sigh and nodding his head.
"Yeah."
The just sat there, smiling like idiots and enjoying one another's presence.

Two weeks had passed since the fire, and Minji was almost back to normal. Her lungs were still weak so Taeyong had put her on a strict no-training protocol until Taeil gave her the green light, but she was able to talk like normal again.
Throughout the two weeks, Haechan and Minji had grown extremely close. He spent every single day with her. He'd go straight to her room after school and stay there until late at night when she'd fallen asleep. Once she was strong enough to walk again, the two of them would take long strolls through the garden as he talked about his day at school.
The rest of the gang could see how close they'd gotten as well. They still bickered and argued and did all they could to annoy each other, but there was no bite to their words like there used to be, and all their fights always ended in chuckles from the two of them.
It was safe to say that she'd fallen for him.
Now they were sitting in her room. It was Sunday night and tomorrow would be the first day she was back at school in a while, so they decided to relax for the evening. He was lying on her bed with Minji's head resting on his stomach as the watched a drama together. The romantic love story came to an end on the screen, Haechan turning it off with a click of the remote.
He looked down at her, noticing the way she was staring off into space, a thoughtful look in her eyes that made him smile.
"What's going on in that little head of yours, hmm?" He asked, poking her cheek playfully.
"Just thinking about stuff."
"Oh yeah, what stuff?" He murmured as he played with the ends of her hair.
"Have you ever been in love?" He froze, looking at her with a confused expression.
"Did you just ask if I've ever been in love?"
"Mmhmm" she sat up to face him. "just curious."
"No. No I haven't." He sighed out.
"Why not?"
"I just never met right person." She nodded, looking away as he continued to stare at her. "Have you ever been in love?"
"Nope. And before you ask, I also never found the right person." He shut his mouth with a nod as she answered his unspoken question.
"Do you think you'll ever love?" He asked softly.
"I think so. I hope so. I know it's tough for people like us. We don't know who's even going to stay alive let alone trust and love." She turned her gaze back to him. "Why do you ask?"
"Just curious."
She scoffed as he repeated her own reasoning back to her, sighing to herself. Talking of love reminded her of her family and a smile slowly made its way onto her face.
"My mom used to tell me that finding love isn't always about finding someone new, but about finally seeing something in someone you never saw before."
As they two stared at one another, she could feel the intensity and tension building between them.
"So maybe we don't need to search that far, huh."
Something sparked in his eyes as he said that, the two of them moving close to one another until they were only inches apart. She smiled, a twinkle in her gaze.
"Maybe not"
It was as if those two words triggered something in him. Haechan quickly leaned forward and closed the gap between the two of them, their lips meeting in a kiss.
It was like fireworks.
She immediately kissed back as he gently lifted his hands to cup her face. Both of them were lost in the kiss but as abruptly as it started, Haechan ended it. He pulled away with a shocked expression, staring at her with a mix of happiness and confusion as he processed what he just did.
"Minji...." He said slowly, taking a deep breath.
"Haechan...?"
"I'm sorry, it's getting late and I- I should go." He quickly stood from her bed and rushed to the door. "I'll uh I'll see you tomorrow."
Before she could even say anything the door slammed shut and he was gone, leaving her alone with only the memory of his touch.
"Bye"
Today was a pretty bad day for me but I've been wanting to release this chapter for so long lol so here it is. Incase any of you are also having a bad day, hopefully this is a fun surprise. <3
