Chapter 30 | "not here"

"She's not here!" Haechan yelled over his shoulder as he kicked open another door, killing the three men inside without even blinking.

"Don't worry, we'll find her." Sungchan said as Haechan returned to his side, the two boys sharing a determined nod before setting off together.

Haechan's eyes wildly scanned the hallways, looking for any unopened door or any signs of Minji. Just as he was about to speak to Sungchan, something whizzed but them down the hallway. The two boys quickly turned, seeing men running at them. They pulled out their guns and shot at their attackers, seeing them fall one by one.

"She's not on the first floor guys, head upstairs." Taeyong instructed through their earpieces, the two boys taking a sharp turn and running up the nearby staircase.

"Taeyong, her heart rate just rapidly decreased. We need to get to her fast." Taeil said to them, the medic waiting in the van with Jisung.

"Taeyong, I'm going to head to the top floor with Sungchan and start working out way down." Haechan said, getting an all clear from the leader as the two boys sprinted up the stairs.

They began kicking open door after door, finding all of them empty. It seemed as though everyone in the building had abandoned their posts to fight NCT on the lower levels.

"Haechan!"

The boy spun around as Sungchan called for him, running over to see.

"Look!"

The younger boy pointed at the ground where there were fresh drops of blood outside of a tightly sealed black door. Haechan's eyes widened in alarm as he raised his gaze to look at Sungchan.

"I'll cover your back. Get in there."

Haechan nodded at the taller boy, breaking off the lock on the door and busting it open. He immediately raised his gun but found the room empty.

"She's not here, Sungchan." He called, hearing footsteps behind him as the younger boy entered the room.

"What is this place?" He asked as he flicked on the lights.

Once illuminated, they could see that they were standing in an office. Haechan knew he should turn to go find Minji but something about the room felt off, and he knew that Sungchan felt it too.

"Let's look around. Something doesn't seem right." Haechan mumbled, getting a nod from the other boy. "Stay alert."

They quickly scanned through the office, looking for anything unusual or any signs of a struggle. Haechan approached the desk, his eyes widening at the papers on the table.

In front of him was a detailed map of their base, including a specific location of where Minji was staying, as well as maps of their route to school, her schedule, and classrooms. There were also a bunch of photos of her. Some entering her car, in the school, and even some through her room window. He couldn't help the shiver as he read through the detailed profile that was laid out on the table.

"Haechan!"

He was snapped out of it as Sungchan beckoned him over to a bookcase on the far wall. He quickly grabbed the papers, shoving them into his pocket and walking over.
