Elizabeth's POV
"She literally hates me!" I exclaim, sobbing into my sisters. I couldn't believe that. I had given her up for a better life, and she had more than I could have given her at that time in my life. Now, I was ready to bring her back into my life and she didn't even want me."Lizzie, she literally said she only wanted to be with you though." Ashley said, trying to comfort me. "No! She said that because she didn't know I'm her birth mom! I can't fucking tell her Ashley." I sob hard and drop to my knees.
"Hey, I'm going to go get Robbie." Mary-Kate says. "N-no! Please don't! I'm not telling him till tonight." I plead with her and she says okay. "Sorry Lizzie, I was just trying to help." "I-it's okay. I just don't need him to know right now."
"W-what am I gonna do now? She's gonna find out at some point that I'm her actually mom and I don't want her to find out at all! What do I do?!" Ashley rubs my back and I lean into her. "Hey, hey. Lizzie, it's going to be okay. First, we will tell Robbie. You can tell her when you're ready. You said her family died right? Give her some time to grieve over that, then you can tell her. At least wait till after the funeral." I nod through my tears.
Suddenly I hear Robbie's voice behind me and I jump. "Hey Robbie, what's up?" I say, blinking my tears back.
"One of the CPS agents got my number and let me know when the funeral for Nellie's family will be. They also said they will email us the paperwork to fill out. As for immediately fostering her, we are allowed to because we already went through the background checks to adopt already."
"What?" Ashley asked, looking at me. "Yea-Robbie and I were planning on looking into adoption before the pandemic and we never told anyone because we were waiting to see if we could find the right one. Now, it comes in handy." The twins smiled at Robbie and I.
"When's the funeral?" I ask Robbie, hugging him. "Three weeks." Three weeks. That gave me enough time to prepare to tell Nellie. While I was still dreading telling her, I had some time to wait.
"Okay. I'm going to go change for dinner. We're going to one of my favorite spots in the city for dinner, I hope you guys like it." Ashley says. "We will." I tell her, holding her hand. Ashley goes to get changed and I go in the room Nellie's in.
