Nellie's POV
A year ago today, I was watching the Hamilton movie multiple times in a row. Today was far from that day. Today was especially hard for me, even though I practiced my song all afternoon yesterday with dad, I didn't want to breakdown mid-song. Today I was having to face the demons that I had pushed away from me since they died.

Lizzie woke me up at 10 to start getting ready. She had wanted me to sleep in because she knew today would be hard on me.

"Nellie? I just want you to know that I'm here for you and if you need to talk, I've got you." I nodded. "Thank you mom." Lizzie smiled at me and I went to get ready.

I put on a long black dress and Lizzie tied my long brown carefully up into a waterfall braid.

I finished getting ready and went over to where Robbie and Lizzie were sitting, eating breakfast.

"Hey Nellie, I know you might have a hard time today, I just wanted you to know I'm here for you." Robbie tells me as I sat down next to him. "Thanks dad." Lizzie smiled at me as she looked up from her toast.

"And you know I said the same thing earlier, I'm here for you." I hugged Lizzie as she got up to grab what she made me for breakfast.

"What do you say to silver dollar pancakes, bacon and eggs?" Lizzie asked me, putting the plate down in front of me. "I say, I don't eat food." "That explains the empty refrigerator." Lizzie and I start laughing and Robbie smiled at us.

"You two are adorable." "Yeah, well, she's my daughter so that's why." Lizzie said, running her fingers through my hair. "She's my daughter too,
E-lizabeth." we all started laughing and Robbie put his hands up in the air in defeat.

"You know what dad?" I started, turning to him. "I could be on my way, If I could only get out of my way. No one said it'd be easy, oh all they ever tell you is it's gonna be hard. Get out, get out right now. Get out, get out."

"Okay. Thank you Nellie for displaying your knowledge of Milo Greene songs." I gave him a nod and Lizzie burst out laughing. "Oh shut up Olsen." Robbie told her.

I started eating and Lizzie talked about how she FaceTimed Ashley yesterday while we were rehearsing.

"So yeah, they got reservations for El Buco Monday and invited us to come up to New York with them before we go down to Florida." Lizzie told us. "El Buco! That's your favorite restaurant right? The one you mentioned in the Hot Ones interview?" "Yeah, why?" "I'm excited then."

"Nellie? Have you never been to El Buco before?" "I've never been. Literally last time I was in New York was the first time I had ever been in the city." "Okay, fair point but like it's amazing. You'll love it."

Once we finished breakfast, dad and I went over my song again, acapella this time, to make sure I had it. I saw mom smiling at me as I sung which made me feel better about it.

Afterwards, I sat on the bed in our hotel room and watched TikToks until it was time to go.

"You ready Nellie?" Lizzie asked me, grabbing her bags. "I guess." I got up and walked over to the door as Lizzie held her hand on my back. "It'll be okay Nellie. Plus, I'm here for you."

We got into the car and after five minutes we were there. Lizzie held me close to her side as we walked into the somber halls.

Before we walked into the main room, I pulled Lizzie off to the side.

"Mom, I don't know if I can do this." I said, looking Lizzie in the eyes.

"Nellie, you've got this. I believe in you. I know this is hard on you but I'm here for you." I hugged Lizzie and then we walked in.

As I walked through the center of the room, watching friends of my parents and relatives come towards me, I grasped Lizzie's hand tightly, as to let it never get away from me.

"Nellie, I'm sorry for your loss." Someone who I think used to work with my dead adoptive mom told me. "Thanks, I guess."

The group of people who were in the front of the room joined in sharing their condolences and as soon as I could, I left the middle of the room and went to the back corner where Shayla was standing.

"Thank goodness you're here Shayla. I'm holding my emotions together by a thread and on top of that I almost just had a panic attack in that crowd of people." Shayla pulled me into a hug.

"I'm here Nellie. I'm gonna be sitting next to you and Lizzie, if you need me, I've got you." "Thanks shoob. Also, for future reference, I want my funeral to be fun, so, play 'All Star' not this sad shit." Shayla nodded and we went to find our seats in the front next to Robbie and Lizzie.

The pastor, who I hadn't seen since May, got up and started talking. I tried to hold my sobs inside as he talked about my family and showed pictures. After he finished talking, he called me up to sing in honor of my parents and my family.

Robbie and I got up and walked to the front. I stood there with a microphone in the direct center of the room as Robbie sat down at the piano.

I take a deep breath and give Robbie the signal to show that I was ready. He started playing and I began to sing.

"Have you ever felt like nobody was there?
Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of nowhere?
Have you ever felt like you could disappear?
Like you could fall, and no one would hear?
Well, let that lonely feeling wash away
Maybe there's a reason to believe you'll be okay
'Cause when you don't feel strong enough to stand
You can reach, reach out your hand
And oh, someone will coming running
And I know, they'll take you home
Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
And when you're broken on the ground
You will be found
So let the sun come streaming in
'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again
Lift your head and look around
You will be found
You will be found
You will be found
You will be found
You will be found
There's a place where we don't have to feel unknown
And every time that you call out
You're a little less alone
If you only say the word
From across the silence your voice is heard
Even when the dark comes crashing through
When you need a friend to carry you
When you're broken on the ground
You will be found
So let the sun come streaming in
'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again
If you only look around
You will be found (You will be found)
You will be found (You will be found)
You will be found
Out of the shadows
The morning is breaking
And all is new, all is new
It's filling up the empty
And suddenly I see that
All is new, all is new
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not
You are not alone
Even when the dark comes crashin' through
When you need someone to carry you
When you're broken on the ground
You will be found!
So when the sun comes streaming in
'Cause you'll reach up and you'll rise again
If you only look around
You will be found
You will be found
You will be found
You will be found!
You will be found."

As soon as Robbie hit the final chord on the piano, I looked over my shoulder to see a picture of my adoptive parents and I when I was a baby and immediately breakdown. As fast as possible, I ran out of the room, not wanting anyone to see me this way.

A/N
Hey Guys, thank you for sticking in there as I know I haven't updated in forever. I started junior year and it's been a hectic month. I finally was able to find some time to get this chapter up and I am working on the next. Hope you enjoy!
