22. Dead body & Threats

I was furious. I was raging in anger seeing the scene in front of me. It was a child, his body mutilated, unrecognizable to anyone. But since we were all wolves, we could identify with his scent.

I want the mutt who did this. When I find that person, he or she is going to regret being born. I am going to tear that person apart. How dare they!!! He was just a kid.

Why Moon Goddess? He was defenceless. He probably didn't even know to fight back. He could have tried but he couldn't have held up.

I saw a woman rushing to the scene crying, probably it was his mother. She looked so dishevelled. She was broke. Her heart was broken into million pieces. She could feel the shallowness in the dept of her heart losing her son. I could only imagine what it felt like. My heart was constrained at that thought. I couldn't breathe. Tears threatening to fall, but I know that I have to keep it together.

For him, for that innocent little child, for his suffering. I am going to find that mutt.

"E, get everyone out of here. Training is postponed. The pack is on Lockdown. No one is to leave their homes until further notice. Anyone found loitering will be thrown in the dungeon and won't be allowed to shift. It applies to everyone above the age of 11. I want the patrol teams 3 and  2 on their posts.  1st group can come to the woods with me. And I want groups 4 and 9 posted in between every five houses and they can be on shifts. Kids and women are not to leave their houses for any reason except for the warriors and trackers. And make sure the orphanage is guarded too. Send groups 5 and 6 there. Also, make sure the elders are taken to safety and post groups 7 and 8 with them. The rest of them can relax for now and gain strength. Chase, maybe you can work with the Alphas and come up with some plan. Talk to the neighbouring packs and find out if anything similar has happened" I gave instructions to Ethan and Chase.

"I am coming with you" Alexander demanded.

"As you wish Alpha" I consented.

"I am coming too" Ethan, Joseph and John chimed in.

"Ethan and Jose can come, John please stay with Chase. He and dad might need help"

"Tony, take him to the pack hospital. Ask the doctor to patch him. Clear the area, and when we return, we'll discuss the burial" I instructed him giving one last lingering look at the lifeless body of the innocent child.

My heart broke at the scene. He probably wanted to grow up and fulfil his dreams and now he won't be able to.

"And Jane, please look after her" I requested as the mother kept weeping at the cold body of her dead son.

She understood me and simply nodded her head.

"Let's go" Alpha commanded and we followed his lead.

He shifted into his wolf. It was majestic, dark black in colour, fit for an Alpha. He looked feral, and in charge. He howled into the air, soon the others followed suit. There were three trackers, 5 warriors, Ethan and Jose along with us.

I didn't shift. I decided to walk. I will follow them till the entrance of the woods and then I'll be on my way on my own. I need to put up the barrier and find any trace of the intruder. I also need to look out for any clues.

'You don't plan on shifting do you?' Ethan asked he pulled up next to me.

Even his wolf was very beautiful. It was a mixture of Grey and a light shade of black. It was small compared to the Alphas but bigger compared to normal wolves.

"No" I answered him truthfully.
