8. Bonds that last forever

I followed Chase into the woods. On my way, I saw the pack members looking at me in a questioning manner. I ignored their looks and aimless ran to the only place I knew I would find him.

After sometime I saw him sitting near the lake, which was our usual spot. I could see that he was lost in thoughts. I walked quietly towards him and sat down. As soon as I sat, I was pulled into a hug.

I hugged him back. I let him pout out his feelings.

I sighed. This was going to a long day!

"I understand, you worry about him. But you need to give him some time" I spoke softly making sure not to upset him more than he already is.

"I can never imagine my life without my mate. Yet had to go through the loss of his. And what's more painful than watching your mate die in your arms and you being helpless, not able to save her. He felt guilty for not being there for her. To protect her from getting attacked and the regret that he couldn't save her made him drown in his misery" he explained, his face covered with his palm, hiding from me.

"You know what, only if you stay strong we can help him. We need to stay strong so that when he decides to come home, we need to make him feel that he is not all alone and that we will be with him through every step he takes. Together we will help him build his life. I know it won't be the same fairy tale, he expected but it need not be so colorless" I said determined to make it better for the Alpha, who is going through the same pain as me.

Somehow the thought of him in pain makes my heart clench in pain too. I guess, the pack bond is affecting even though we haven't met.

"Chase, I need you to give a call to Alpha Trent and Alpha Caiden. I am ready" I said shocking him.

Chase gaped at me as if he couldn't believe his ears that I finally accepted their idea.

"You sure?" he asked flabbergasted.

"Yes, I am. It's time I did the right thing. No more running away" I replied firmly.

"Let's do it," he said, pulling me to my feet with him.

I gave him the biggest smile which he returned and pulled me into a hug.

He pulled out of the hug and kissed my forehead.

"Thank you baby sis. I don't know what I'd do without you" 

"I know. I don't know what I'd do with me too" I said winking at him.

It took him a minute to comprehend what I said, but after a moment he realized and his face changed into an understanding one.

"The last one to reach the pack house has to be the slave for one week" he screamed before running in the direction of the pack house, leaving me standing like a statue.

It took me a minute to come out of my stance and I ran like my life depended on it.

3 months later

"You are doing pretty well for a beginner in this type of training" Alpha Trent complimented as he pulled me up from the ground. 

"Thank you, Alpha. What can I say? I have the best training me" I replied gratefully.

"Hey, I thought we were past the formalities. Call me Trent, Cathy" he urged.

"Fine, I know you hate when I call you Alpha. Besides, that's the point. I know how much it irritates you" I said with a wink.

I ran away from there poking my tongue out at him. He soon started chasing me around the field, leaving everyone to stand shocked at what is happening in front of him.

He was a person who is closed off except for his family and close circles. So you can expect the shocked look at my pack members face when they saw the scariest Alpha laughing, more like chasing a grown girl all over like he was a teenager. Everyone, including me, actually thought he was capable of laughing, let alone smile.

But I was wrong. To know his personality you need to get to know him. Only then you will find that he is not who he shows outside, except he is like a teddy, soft in nature.

"I give up" I screamed at him when he caught me by my waist twirling me around in the air making me dizzy.

He put me on my feet. I slowly slid down and sat on the ground, with a full blown smile on my face.

"Are you okay?" I could hear the concern in his voice.

"Yeah" I lied, I felt dizzy.

"Cupcake" he warned me using the nickname he had given me. 

Over the past few weeks, we've gotten close to the extent where we shared all our dark secrets. I know you might be thinking how could I trust me. It's weird but for some reason, I trust him with my life. Not just him, Caiden too.

"I just feel a bit dizzy" I replied honestly knowing that he will always find out when I am lying to him and it makes him mad.

"Come, I will carry you back to the pack house. I don't want you o trip and hurt yourself" he demanded and bent down to carry me bridal style.

I put my arms around him for support. 

"Have you thought about it?" he asked

"Yes, I think I will go with you guys" I replied making his smile wide.

Apparently, dad, Trent, and Caiden thought it would be best if I go over to their packs for some time. They think it'll help me grow stronger. They came to this decision when I defeated the lowest warrior of our pack during the training in the wolf form. and I have been moving up the ladder ever since. They think it's a big deal since I am without a wolf and beat a wolf.

"I promise, we are going make you stronger" he assured me.

"I know," I said and laid my head on the crook of his neck while he walked to the pack house.

As soon as we reached, he walked to the kitchen and put me on the stool. Chase, Jane, Ethan, few others from Trent's and Caiden's pack were eating their breakfast. As soon as they saw me in his arms, I could see the thoughts in their mind. I just shrugged.

I noticed that Caiden was missing.

"Where is Caiden?" I asked, no one in particular.

"I saw him going to his room, a few minutes back" Jane replied taking a bite of the sandwich in her hand.

"I'll go get him" I stood up from the stool only to be stopped by Trent.

"I'll go with you" He said.

"Okay"

Trent took my hand in his and walked to the upper level of the pack house, where the higher ranked wolves stayed. Fortunately, all the people I love are on one floor. Since Alpha's beta's and Gamma's stayed on one floor. And me being the beta's sister/ Alpha's daughter, I too stayed on the same floor. Same goes for the guests coming from other packs.

"Do you think everything is fine with him?" I asked, worried something was wrong with Caiden because he missed his training.

"I hope so, cupcake" he replied.

As soon as we reached Caiden's door, it was left open, but the scene in front of us made is gasp.
