20. Becoming the Alpha

"What took you so long?" Chase popped out beside me as I stood in the kitchen, drinking the juice.

"You scared me" I held my chest, calming my nerves.

"You didn't answer me" he pointed out,

"Well, we had to talk, clear things up" I replied nonchalantly.

"And I couldn't stay there with you for that?" he questioned me.

"No, you couldn't. It was something we both had to clear. He is the Alpha and you know what I am. Naturally, he would feel threatened. I couldn't blame him for that If you were in the room, I couldn't probably handle you both together. And I can't throw the Alpha away from the room, seeing it's his pack and his home. So I had to ask you to leave" I explained hoping it will throw him off me.

Thankfully he did stop questioning me.

"Hey, you guys are here? I was searching for you. Come on, let's go outside. All are waiting for you guys. Apparently Alpha Black has some announcement to make" Ethan said before pulling me out with him, with Chase following us.

"I am not a kid" I whined at Ethan as we stopped in front of the podium in the training field.

"You sure are acting like one now" He commented.

"I poked out my tongue at him"

It was at that exact moment Chase came and stood next to us, with Jane practically hanging off his arms.

"Very mature" she teased with a sly grin.

"Says the one who is practically boning my brother"

"He is my mate" she retorted.

"He is my brother" I argued back.

"So what?"

"So stop with the PDA"  I demanded.

It was really gross to see them making out. I accidentally walked into their room once and I still can't remove the image of my brain, no matter how hard I try.

"I am still disturbed at what I saw last year. So don't add to my misery"

"You should have knocked" Jane protested.

"Well, you would have heard if you weren't screaming your lungs out" I reasoned with her.

"Okay, that's enough bickering both of you" Ethan cut in between us.

Chase had an amused look on his face and clearly, he was enjoying this way too much.

"Why are you laughing?" I barked at him.

"Nothing. It's fun to see you, girls, at each other's throat for once. Otherwise, it's always us at the receiving of end of both of your atrocities" He smirked at me.

"Damn right" Ethan chimed in, agreeing with my stupid brother.

"Hey, Luna is calling you guys up there. Come on" Joseph whispered to us.

"Yea, let's go guys" Ethan hurried us all to the podium.

We all climbed up, mom came rushing to us and pulled me to the side.

"Is everything alright? I saw you rush out and Alex followed you. I hope he didn't do something to hurt you" She had a worried look on her face.

"No, mom. I am fine. We just had to talk and clear things up. You don't worry." I consoled her.

"You'll tell me right if there is a problem?" she probed further.

"Yes," I answered.

"Come on, it's time"
