19.Almost getting caught and a pact

"What are you doing here Chase?" I questioned him crossing my arms against my chest.

All he did was stare at me.

I hit his shoulders to get his attention. 

"Huh?" he looked at me in confusion.

I waited for him to speak further.

"Go on, speak" I probed him.

"You" he pointed his finger at me.

"What?" I squeaked out in surprise.

"What the hell are you doing here? That too with the Alpha?" he barked at me, ragingly.

"Don't talk to her in that tone" Alexander bellowed at Chase.

He came to stand before me in a protective stance, guarding me against Chase, pushing me behind him, his hand on my stomach, causing flutters.

"You think I will harm her? Damn it, I came here following you, so you don't harm her. So move the hell out of here before I make you. I don't care you're the Alpha, if you dare hurt her, you'll have me to face" Chase threatened, snapping his canines at the Alpha, threatening his command.

The Alpha's wolf started coming out, both of them growling at each other. I jumped in between both of them, pushing them apart.

"Stop it" I gave a pointed look to Chase.

"Both of you" I shouted at the Alpha, which made him stop growling.

"And you Chase, what the hell do you think you're doing? That's your Alpha. For God's sake put your teeth away. His wolf feels threatened and disrespected. Stop growling and submit. I don't want either of you to shift in the middle of my room and for the sake of you both, I don't want to pull your ears for rearranging my interior" Chase winced at my threat, while Alexander looked confused and even doubtful.

"I mean it," I said sternly.

"Right. I am calm okay. I will apologize but don't you dare try to pull my ears" he warned me, immediately turning to the Alpha "And I am so sorry Alpha" he apologized, slightly bowing down as a sign of submission.

But our Alpha was still glaring holes at Chase and soon started growling at him since my hands were on Chase.

I quickly pulled away, earning a questioning look from my dearest brother.

I pushed myself closer to Alexander to calm him down.

"Chase, why don't you go downstairs and wait for me while I have a word with our Alpha. I'll be with you shortly" I spoke in a dismissing manner.

Chase gave me a look that said 'we aren't done with the talking'.

"Just go, please" I requested.

Just as he went, I didn't wait to know if he was out of the room, I turned to the Alpha and glowered at him.

I put my hands on my hips, gave him a serious look.

"What the hell was that?" I questioned him.

He just stood expressionless, but I could see his veins popping out of its place in anger. He was stiff, indicating he was furious.

He cupped my cheeks with his hands, and gave me a small peck on the corner of my lips, without actually kissing me on the lips, in a teasing manner. I stiffened at the contact. He could feel me shivering at his touch. He had me now.

Within a moment, I was in his arms. I was pushed to the wall beside the door.

My heart was beating rapidly against my chest. I was excited to be in his arms yet nervous about getting caught by others. I mean we did agree to keep it in wraps. So I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally see us together, all tangled in each other's arms. We had a pact that we would keep the distance between us and not try anything but that just flew out of the window.

I noticed that the door was ajar. If anyone were to pass outside this room, they could clearly see what was going on inside, it made me nervous. I was not ready for everyone to know, especially since there was no confirmation about our connection with each other.

He held both my hands above my head with his one hand.  He inched his face closer to mine, his breaths fell on my lips, making me shiver in pleasure. The contact between us was heating my insides, made me clench my thighs together in response. My whole body felt the electrifying pulse at the contact.

I bet he was all tingly right now. That's the effect he has on me. But since we aren't mates or connected by our wolves we wouldn't have any other sensations.

He slowly put his face on my neck, taking a whiff of my scent, breathing it in.

I felt his nerves calm down. His heartbeats slowed down.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

My gaze locked with his. I could see the loss of light in his eyes. He had it hidden very well from others. Since I was the only one who could be this close to him,  I was able to see it. I was the only one who could probably feel how he felt, the despair of losing the soul mate.

"I am fine. I will be" he replied and loosened the grip on my hands.

He released it but soon pulled me into a hug.

"We will be alright but I still meant what I said earlier. We can't be seen together. No one can know what happened now. I wasn't supposed to do what I did but I lost control and this can't happen again. I promise I wouldn't lose control like this," He said, slowly kissing the place where a mate's mark shock be, in the nape of my neck.

I guess after this something has shifted between us. We are not mates, yet we felt connected emotionally and now physically. And after the incident, I don't know how am I going to avoid him. I really need to. I can't believe I fell for his stupid trick.

I pulled myself away from, tears threatening to fall but I held myself together. I promised myself I wouldn't cry after what happened with my ex-mate. Yet here I am, I fell again for this Alpha's stunts. That's it. I am done.

I wonder what this means for us. Would we become a couple? I don't think I am ready for being in a relationship. I don't think he is either.

Let's see where this takes us. But one thing I was sure as hell, that he was hiding something related to our connection. I was going to find it soon.
