1 month later

"WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!"

Maya's shrill voice rips me from my sleep, and momentarily I think that some how there's a fucking earthquake happening in Houston... which wouldn't make any damn sense.

"WAKE UP ANGIE WE'RE 18!!" She screams as she continues to jump on my bed.

I groan as I throw the blanket over my face. I don't know why I thought this would stop her hyper attitude at 6 in the morning. She did stop jumping, but only because she landed with a hard thump on top of me.

"You are crushing me woman!" I whisper scream. "It's 6 A.M. Not even mom is awake!"

Angelique rolls off of me and rests her head beside mine on my pillow.

I open my sleepy eyes and make eye contact with her glimmering ones.

"Today's the day" she whispers with a smile.

I give her a soft sleepy one back before I sigh.

"What's wrong?" She asks concerned.

I shake my head. "Nothing. Just nervous for today I guess."

Maya smiles sweetly at me before jumping off of the bed.

"No being nervous! Today we find our mates." She beams.

I sigh and raise my sleepy body off of the bed to look at her.

"You already found yours remember." I mutter.

Maya and Danny had been together for a month now. I think they were both convinced that they were mates, but it bothered me that when I would see him he would still give me the same confused expression as the one he gave me the night we met. He was never rude to me. We always held light conversation when Maya brought him over, but he always looked at me strangely like he couldn't figure me out. As if I was some puzzle he couldn't put together.

"It's still not confirmed though." She says now lowering her voice.

"When are you guys seeing each other?" I ask.

"Not till later. We were going to breakfast together so we could see for ourselves before the party." She says with a smile.

I nod my head and look out my window at the rising sun.

"I can't believe you woke me up at 6 A.M. in fucking June. I haven't seen a 6 A.M. since the end of spring semester." I mutter.

"It's our birthday! We need to soak up every minute of it!" She gushes.

"Did you even sleep last night?" I ask with a chuckle as I take in the small dark circles under her eyes.

She smiled sheepishly at me and I only rolled my eyes. "You are a mess. Go get some sleep before your bags scare away your mate." I joke.

Maya's jaw drops and she grabs a pillow from the edge of my bed and chucks it at my face before exiting the room.

"Love you!" I call out.

"Whatever!" She calls back.

After she leaves the room I lay my head back down on my pillow and almost instantly fall back asleep. It's my birthday and I refuse to wake up until at least 11.

~

I woke up from the bright light that poured in from my curtains, and the few sounds of movement down stairs.

I could definitely tell everyone was awake by now, meaning it had to be at least 10.

When I pick up my phone from my side table I see it's actually nearing 11.
