Daniel and I drive back in complete silence.
I know both our minds are racing, and it's causing a deep tightening ache in my chest.
His minds a mess, I only wish I knew exactly what was going through it, but he's on lockdown.
When we left his apartment he wouldn't let me out from under his arm. He walked me to my side of the car and didn't move from the open door till I was buckled in, and when I was he sped round the front and got in himself and took off as quickly as possible.
He's looked me in the eye maybe twice, but each time he was distant. His eyes were vacant, and black.
I knew he'd let his wolf take the reins for a bit, but he hadn't eased up even when we got to my place.
He quickly rounded the front of the car again to open my door for me and let me out. I think any other time I'd think it was sweet, but this was about protection, not chivalry. His arm around me wasn't sweet, it was hard and cold. Like a brick wall ready to shield me at a moments notice.
We enter the house in silence. My parents are both sat on the couch cuddled up watching some show I can't focus on.
For the .2 seconds they weren't look at us I felt a pang of jealousy at their loving embrace. They both looked content until they met our eyes.
They each knew something wasn't right and immediately stood to their feet.
"What's wrong?" My dad says already halfway to us, my mom behind him.
"He was there. He came to my place." Daniel rushes out. "While we were there."
My parents eyes widen and they quickly share a look.
"Call Maya, tell her she needs to come home now." My dad says to my mom. She nods and goes upstairs probably to grab her phone.
"What happened exactly?" My dad asks.
Daniels arm is still wrapped around me, and I feel him tighten his arm around my waist.
"He threw a rock through the window and left this note." Daniel says digging the crumbled note out of his pocket.
My dad takes it from Daniels hands and frowns.
"Angie I want you to go upstairs and pack. Daniel you and I will go back to your place to grab what you need. You're all leaving tonight." He says.
"Where?" Daniel asks, slightly tightening his arm around me again.
"Back to Alice." He says just as my mom comes down.
"Maya's on her way."
My dad nods. "I'll call Tyler, he and Tara will drive the 4 of you to Alice.
"4?" Daniel asks.
"You'll be taking Anna too. Kai is leaving for Denver tomorrow." He says.
My mom nods. "We need to tell the rest of the pack, Damien." She says nervously.
My dad nods. "Can you call Daisy? We need to get going." He says to Daniel.
Daniels arm tightens around me, it goes unnoticed by my parents as they scramble the house grabbing what they need and making calls.
When I look up at Daniel his eyes are still black.
"You need to let me go."
"I don't need to do anything. You're not leaving my sight." He says angrily.
I frown at his harsh words. This feels more like the guy who wanted to pummel the one who bumped into me at my party. Jealous, possessive. This wasn't my sweet Daniel.
