Angelique's POV
Jane finally called back this morning, and bottom line, masking scents is possible, but it's a type of magic that hasn't been used in ages. Well, so we thought.
We were all sitting outside at a picnic table enjoying the weather watching Anna play, silently discussing what Jane had told us.
"I don't understand. If it's a type of magic they don't use anymore, then how are they using it?" Leah asks.
Lilith sighs. "Jane said many covens hadn't taught that kind of magic in years. But there are still people who know how to wield that kind of power. Daniels dad probably found one."
"And what. They're just willing to help this psychopath?" Maya asks with an irritated tone.
"I wouldn't say willing." Tyler adds with a grimace.
Lilith shrugs sadly.
"What does my dad have to say about it?" I ask.
"I think he's trying to figure out what to do. We've already informed the pack, so they've backed off drastically now that they understand why we've struggled so much on finding them. I don't know what they want to do honestly." She sighs.
"And Kai? Where is he?" Tyler asks.
"Still a part of the hunting party."
"Shouldn't we be helping?" Daniel asks.
"They want us here. Safe."
"Are we safe though? He could've easily followed us. Hell, he could already be here." Tyler seethes.
Everyone immediately turns to Anna who is chasing after a bird who flew out of a tree nearby. The innocence of the sight made my chest ache.
"Let's hope not." Lilith says with a thickness in her voice that made me beyond nervous.

The day went on with all of us lounging around the camp. However, after our conversation this morning, Lilith asked us all to stay within a mile from the cabins, just in case.
Daniel has been better today. He didn't seem so edgy around Leah anymore. He told me the two of them talked last night because he couldn't sleep, and neither could she. Even Leah seemed a bit more open to conversation today.
A little after dinner, Lilith took Anna to bed, and Tyler and Tara followed soon after.
Leah, Maya, Daniel and I were in the cabin across the way watching TV in the living room to not disturb the others, specifically Anna who fought Lilith for a whole 30 minutes about going to bed.
"I'm gonna step outside for a bit." Leah mutters. We all nod at her and Maya reminds her not to stray too far. Leah only nods and heads for the door.
The three of us sat on the couch, Daniel to the right of me and Maya to the left, when I started to smell something.
I didn't say it... I wasn't sure if I should. But when I heard Daniel sniffle beside me, and Maya do the same, I looked to the both of them with a curious expression.
