2nd book to "You Make it Possible"
My eyes quickly scan the yard hoping to meet eyes with who I know for a fact is my mate. I could feel my wolf inside me going insane as I looked around. They finally stopped and settled at the other side of the yar...
The voice currently disrupting my sleep huffs and a second later I jolt awake from something pinching my arm.
"Ow fuck!"
"Shhhh" the voice hisses.
My eyes adjust to the darkness to meet Maya's wide eyes.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I whisper shout.
Maya makes a weird whining noise and I stare at her quizzically. "Maya what's wrong"
"Ugh. Can you just come with me?" She says nervously tugging on my wrist.
I climb out of bed and shudder at the feeling of the cold floor against my feet. With my wrist still in her hand, she tugs me into the living room.
"I'm having a crisis." She says finally releasing her hold on me and sitting on the couch.
"What do you mean? What's wrong?" I say nervously sitting beside her.
"Well, remember Jason?" She asks, nervously wringing her fingers together.
My face drops in irritation. "Seriously, no Maya I don't know who Jason is" I deadpan.
"Oh shut up" she whines. "Look. I know he's always joked about one of us being his mate. Obviously it's not you, but I'm starting to wonder..."
"You think he's your mate?" I ask surprised.
"I don't know!" She whines. "I mean. We almost kissed at the party... we've hung out and it feels like there's something there but..." she trails off uncomfortably, and I don't miss the quick darting of her eyes at the bedroom Daniel and I have been staying in.
"You're worried it'll be like it was with Daniel." I finish for her. "That it won't be him."
She nods her head, her cheeks flushing a dark pink.
"Well, he if it makes you feel better, we at least know he's not actually my mate?" I offer with a small smile.
"Oh shut up" she groans and puts her face in her hands. "I'm serious Angie. What if I'm just being hopeful, and it's not him. I felt like such an idiot after everything with Daniel." She says.
I frown at her words and grab her hand in mine. "What happened with Daniel was just a fluke. Mom and dad says it happens sometimes with twins. You shouldn't feel like an idiot." I say. "I wish I had better advice for you Maya. But I can't say whether or not Jason will be your mate till that day comes. When's his birthday?" I ask.
Maya lifts her head up and looks at the clock. "In 5 minutes."
My eyes widen slightly, and I compose myself before Maya catches wind of my shock.
"Well. That's cool." I say awkwardly.
Maya sighs. "We wont even know till we go back home, and who the hell knows when that is gonna happen." She groans.
I squeeze her hand in mine to get her attention.
"Whatever happens, it's going to be fine Maya. You said you feel a connection right? What does it feel like?" I ask.
Maya's face blushes again, and a small smile appears on the corner of her mouth. She had a dreamy look in her eyes, and based off that reaction I know the connection had to mean something. Even when she talked about Daniel the first few weeks she wasn't glowing this much.
"I don't know." She shrugs. "I know we joked around with him growing up, I always saw him as just a kid who liked me and I never felt the same. But I don't know. Something felt different at the party."
"Different how?" I ask.
Maya bites her lip and groans. "I dislike talking about feelings"
I chuckle and shake my head. "Well, you better get used to it. Because if Jason is your mate he's going to be all up your ass about your feelings."
Maya groans again and sighs. "I just felt like, when we talked it was easy. One conversation flowed into the next one, when we danced it didn't feel like I was dancing with a stranger but with someone closer. Like we've always danced together." She says. "I just wish I could know now." She says looking up at the time which now showed 12am.
"Call him" I offer.
"No. It's late I can't, he's probably asleep." She rushes.
"He's turning 18. He's not asleep" I chuckle.
Maya rolls her eyes and shrugs. "I'll text him, I'll just tell him happy birthday." She says.
I nod and smile. "That's a start."
Maya smiles and leans forward to pull me into a hug. "Thank you Angie." She says.
"Anytime sis."
