"Abby, wake up. We've arrived."

I feel someone nudges my shoulder a little and I open my eyes slowly to see Ryan's face in front of me.

"How long did I sleep?" I sit straight up.

"Not long, around 30 minutes only. Let's get in. I think it's still early to begin our activity and it's only 11 am so I think it's better if we unpack our things into the rooms first."

I look outside the window to see that we are now parked in front of a guesthouse. I get out of the car and realize that Ryan already took my bags out from the trunk.

"We'll sleep here?" I look at the house. It's not too big but it's still big, considering that there are only 2 of us here.

"Yeah, I assume you're more comfortable if I find a house for us to stay since they have a lot of rooms inside so you don't have to worry about sleeping arrangement and you get to do anything comfortably." Ryan says while trying to take my luggage from my hand with his bag in his other hand.

"It's okay, I can bring this." I'm actually touched, knowing that he thought about it even before he got me here. I am uncomfortable if he got us a room and I might be renting another room if he did but the fact that he did all of this for me, is so heartwarming.

"No, let me take this." He still insisted in taking my bag with him so I let him as I know how stubborn he is. I follow behind him to the front door.

"Can you unlock it for me?" He handed me the key and I unlock the door for us. I push open the door and take a look before going in.

"It's a nice house." I said as I look around.

Ryan stops and puts the bags beside the door to take a look at the house too.

"It's not that big though. Hope this is sufficient."

"Ryan, we don't need 'big' house. We're only staying for one night though. And there are only two persons so this is actually more than enough."

"Glad that you like it."

We start choosing a room for ourselves. I choose the first room along the hallway and Ryan's is next to mine. We start unpacking and refresh ourselves before going for our next activity.

I am arranging my stuff into my handbag when I hear Ryan knocks my door. "Are you ready?"

I shout a yes before quickly grabbing my sandals.

Then, we go out together and get in the car after Ryan locks the door.

"I hope you're hungry." Ryan says when we are just 1 minute into the drive.

I look at mh wrist watch and see that it is already 12 at noon and that must be why I'm feeling hungry.

"Actually, I am. We're gonna eat?"

"Yup, that's the clue."

I just nod and look out the window to see the beach along the way.

"Do we have beach behind the house? I don't realize that?"

"Yes, actually. But it we need to walk for like 500 metres, I think before we reach the beach."

Surprisingly, there's not much people on the beach today, but I assume maybe it's because the waves here are not quite high and people prefer high waves to surf. Just some people relaxing to tan their bodies can be seen there.

"Why? Do you want to go to the beach?" Ryan looks at me.

"Can we take a walk tonight? I like the night breeze at the beach."

"Sure, we can even make campfire if you want to."

"Really? Like, I'm seriously asking." My face lits up a little knowing that we can make a campfire so I turn my body to him a little.

"Now that, you look a little too excited, I can't say no, right?" He chuckles.

"No, I'm not forcing you. I'm genuinely curious."

"I know, Abby. And I'm serious. We can. The house is provided with full equipment for camping or campfire by the beach just in case their guests want to so it's a good news for you."

I smile brightly, "That's great! I can't wait!"

"Okay, now you're more excited with that than my surprise for you?"

"Of course I'm still excited for it but you don't want to tell me anything!"

"Okay, okay. We're almost there." He holds my hand with his right hand while his left still on the steering and eyes on the road.

I scroll to my phone if I don't have anything to ask Ryan and update some Instagram stories, Snapchat and text Mom to inform that I've arrived. I almost forgot to text her and I'm glad that I remembered because I know she won't stop calling if I don't.

After a few minutes on the road, I look outside when I hear people's screaming and cheering and music blasting outside.

A carnival?

"Yup, we're here. A carnival."

I widen my eyes and look at Ryan with a big smile.

"How do you know?"

"I have my ways." He shrugs.

I've always wanted a trip to a carnival or any festival but it's rare at our neighbourhood area and I don't really have the time to go to. I did plan one with Harley and she said we might need to go after we graduated but I don't mind as long as I can go. I'm so excited to try their foods and games and watching parade and just watch any performances. This is really a dream come true.

I look outside and see all the people laughing while playing games, the food trucks chef cooking food that I don't know what but I want to try and the kids playing at the big playground they set up there.

I don't even realize that Ryan has already parked his car and ready to go out because I am too excited looking at the carnival.

"Abby?" Ryan calls me to gain my attention.

"Yes?"

"We've arrived. Let's go. We can try everything you want now."

I unbuckled my seat belt and take my bag before getting out of the car. As soon as I'm outside, the music gets louder and I already can smell food being cook.

"Oh my god, this is awesome." I said it to myself while my eyes still wandering at the scene in front of me.

"You excited?" Ryan's voice catches my ears and I look at him giggling.

"I am! Let's go!" I take his hand quickly and start walking into the carnival. Ryan is really being dragged by me before he walks himself again to catch me up.

We walk a little before I stop at a chinese food stall. I look at Ryan and he says we can get any food I want so I decided to order one seafood fried rice for me because it's my favourite chinese food. I want to pay it myself but Ryan insisted to pay so I let him before we get into a fight. But I promise him that I would pay for the fuel because he did everything and I wanted to do something since this is 'our' vacation. He agreed and we proceed with more food and snack stalls to stop by.
